pot hole on motorway caused a missed flight

the venom on this board never ceases to amaze me. Also the comments that 'we leave enough time just in case just such an eventuality occurs' is laughable.
how many hours extra do you allow in case of a pothole? how many extra hours do you allow in case of a road closure in the event of a serious traffic accident? how many days do you allow for travel in case of an aircraft crash-landing on the motorway? Or an alien abduction?
I think the OP has been very patient in answering all the questions from people whose hobby seems to be thinking they are superior.
not one piece of helpful advice amongst you.
thank you, these keyboard warriors have made me laugh, as if they'd try speaking to my face like this lol
my wife tried to leave enough time but if everything goes wrong, unless you went the day before then it don't matter0 -
Oh dear . . . are you someone with connections . . ?as if they'd try speaking to my face like this lol0 -

no, just someone who understands most people's 'online persona' is very different to their real life
you seriously think most responses on here would be the exact same if I asked in a pub?
I came on here looking for advice and help, most posts were straight away 'forward', trying to dig me out, or worse, my wife, without trying to help.
If someone wants help and I see it, I help, if I can't help, I keep my trap shut0 -

You see keyboard warriors, I see people trying to ground you to give you a sense of expectation from a sensible point of view.
Those saying you haven’t mitigated your losses (to which you have largely ignored) are factually correct. You haven’t addressed a single poster with that assertion (from memory)
Those saying you should have left earlier raise a valid point, and one in which any insuerer will interrogate....
You mr sketchiness of timings does not assist anyone in helping you.
And your default position of ‘someone else is to blame’ without any acknowledgment of your wife shortcomings is very unendearing.
Please also don’t try and find me. I like the anonymity this keyboard provides0 -

pathetic, truly pathetic.
I've answered everything people have asked me. You wanna now try digging my wife out as well.....0 -
Sorry, but if you asked me in a pub, I'd probably exclaim "she paid how flipping much!"

You didn’t answer me about how long she left to do the journey and how long before the flight did she intend to arrive.
Whatever melb says it is relevant , your insurance company will want to know.
Would I ask the same question face to face? Of course I would.0 -

in fact, i fancy taking you apart now seeing as you've decided to pile in as well.
first point, mitigated loses - you and everyone else seems to miss, there was no other flight options. yes maybe a week later, or even a few days later, but what do you do? lose 3-4 days holiday that is already paid for? stay at Gatwick for those days and pay for hotels - food etc?
2nd point - left earlier? how much earlier? come on tell me seeing as my wife had what most would assume was 'plenty' in normal circumstances. do we add 2-3 hours on to normal cirmcumstances? a day? a week? what happened to her and all the knock on effects was totally out of the ordinary so i take it you always count for those? you leave for work an hour early each day, 'just in case'?
my default position - yes someone else is to blame, did I leave the M1 in such a state that 3-4 cars in a matter of minutes had blow outs due to the road
as for - my timings - lol, don't even have to say anything about that lol0
