Thank Goodness Brexit will not halt immigration

Because it's vanishingly unlikely said mother would be given a 3-bed semi. Kids are only given a sepearate room from about 10,
I was specifically responding to LHW99's suggestion that no-one should have to share a bedroom; there are not that many three bedroom flats around. How would you feel about providing a ground floor flat to the same girl, who has no kids but some kind of degenerative disease that prevents her from working?
I've no problem with anyone that needs State help through no fault of their own; I've every problem with people who expect State help because of poor decisions of their own doing.Every generation blames the one before...

This "housing bubble" which is apparently on the verge of bursting according to so many has survived for years now with hardly any sign of things changing
I don’t think we’re on the verge of collapse or bursting but I don’t agree things haven’t changed.
In general it looks like house price growth has ground to a halt.
I think things will pick up when we get a deal and the uncertainty is out of the way (but I didn’t predict trump or the brexit vote so I don’t have a great track record).0 -

I feel it's an extravagance when lots of people in the same position, except for having a job, live in houseshares.
And when a lot of other people in a more advanced stage of degeneration end up clogging NHS beds, or fending for themselves, because of refusal to build adequate care provision for those with no means.
But the taxpayer can afford a lot of extravagances, including making chronically ill people lonely, so trebles all round and a toast to our good intentions.0 -
Professional benefit scroungers are also a tiny, tiny minority (though a nice bogeyman), so I'd quite happily pay for their upkeep if it means we're looking after everyone else that actually needs it.
How do you feel about paying to keep someone from abroad who has never contributed to the UK economy? As of February 2015, 113, 960 working-age claimants of DWP benefits were EU migrants (that is, when they first registered for a National Insurance Number, they were a national of another member state). This represents 2.2% of total claimants.
Most of these were claiming an “out of work benefit” such as Jobseekers Allowance. However, the total includes some benefits, such as Housing Benefit and Disability Living Allowance, which can be paid to those in or out of work.“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and who weren't so lazy.”0 -
I was specifically responding to LHW99's suggestion that no-one should have to share a bedroomI don't however think it is reasonable however to expect people to share bedrooms with complete strangers no matter whether they are relying on the taxpayer or limited resources of their own.
Sharing bedrooms with family is a different issue. I have done that very often, for a whole range of reasons, both short and longer term. My comment was in response to Triathlon in post 5 saysinI personally do not see a problem with sharing bedrooms as well, even outside of the normal relationship convention.0 -

before we start the inevitable great hobby of vilifying these incredibly evil and disgusting EU immigrants, do you know what the percentage of British people on benefits who "don't contribute to the economy" is? I suppose you don't care because "EU SCUM IS STEALING MY MONEY"
never mind the fact that EU people pay in more than they take out, which is more than can be said for many other types of immigrants (and many British people as well). but well, who cares about facts, let's just HATE these dirty rats0 -

I think that is exactly what has happened and was expecting a small drop at worst, say 4% at tops. But I have reviewed that now going on present strong indicators and expect prices to start rising again this year after flat lining for a short period.0 -

Maybe some people should make better provisions in their later life, you have to count on yourself in this life.0
