Sorry to hear about DSs having split up with long term girlfriends, Jazee and YL.
Valli, for some reason there's a very deep gap below the filter in our TD, and the only way to get the fluff out of that is to tape a paper towel tube to the pointy end of a vacuum cleaner hose. How it hasn't caused a fire I don't know because I keep forgetting to do it, and the TD is well over 25 years old. I very rarely use it but this time of year it gets pressed into service rather more than I would like in an ideal world.
Two lodgers leave today so V can move out of my office and back downstairs, but that will have to wait if he wants me to make the bed, as I've got to go out for a few hours. If he's willing to wave a duster about, vacuum it and make the bed himself (which he might be), he can do it as soon as the chaps leave. I'd prefer the latter, obvs.Better is good enough.0 -
Morning
HHI done
Wm x2 done but hanging indoors as it would disappear intercontinental if I hung it outside. Sooooo windy.
DH made to feel guilty enough to go to the tip with some of the bags of rubble that are blocking up the garage. More importantly, they are blocking my way to the clean flower pots.
I need to make a list for today as I seriously CBA and next week is revving up to be just stupid.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Very windy here, just been out with gloves on to pick up the broken glass pane from the greenhouse

Morning :hello:
One bowl of pots WUDUPA, second bowl now soaking
First load of washing draped on airer, second load now swishing.
Rubbish and recycling are out and birds fed. Bed is made.
Three latch hook kits, unopened, brought down from my bedroom, dusted and placed in empty side board cupboard. Two of the kits are for cushions for the chairs at the kitchen table. The kitchen was painted yellow with blue gloss, then the workmen put in a new kitchen (great) and painted everything magnolia / white(Social Housing). I loved my blue and yellow kitchen - I wonder if DS's dad would paint it again for me?
What to do with coats and shoes? Eventually they will go nicely in the cupboard under the stairs - but that is currently ROD2. I take my life in my hands if I open the door  Clearing out ROD2 is way down on the to do list as the rest of the house, in which we actually live, is a higher priority. The 'hall' is literally a square at the bottom of the stairs which the front door opens on to - no spare floor space in there. I had thought about having a coat rail fitted in there - under the fuse box, above the radiator, behind the door when it's opened. What do you think about hanging coats on an outside wall?
The days of coats on the kitchen table and shoes under it are coming to an end :T:j:T Where on earth can I put a shoe cupboard until the ROD2 is emptied. on the landing. Not the most convenient place for shoes, but as a temporary solution that would work.
Right - I'm going to WUDUPA then research shoe cupboards / coat rails / local handymen.
Hugs

The only problem with having coats behind the door is that they tend to accumulate, with the end result being that you can't open the front door fully [strike]and it's putting potentially flammable items right by your escape route[/strike].
Same with shoes by the front door. If you don't instinctively kick them off at a certain place, you tend to end up with several places where they accumulate and, as you don't think to go to the certain place, you get a pile of shoes getting in the way. I couldn't even manage to use the shoe rack when it was five foot away from where I take them off. [strike]They also create a massive trip hazard if you need to leave the premises in a hurry[/strike]
Most shoes are therefore at the bottom of the wardrobe and the ones in current use (2 pairs) go onto the shoe rack exactly where I kick them off when I walk in the door.
Woke up with an Idiot Cat happily snuggled up in my arms this morning. Really not sure what happened there, but he looked incredibly content to be right between me and Himself.
TD on with the bathroom mat and a couple of towels that wouldn't dry on the horse. Himself apparently has to do some filming in a minute when the daylight gets properly into the studio, so no vacuuming until that's done.
I've drunk coffee, eaten a YS stale doughtnut for breakfast and don't intend to do anywhere near as much as I intended last night.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Hi all
Very very wet here. I have given my oven a proper clean, there is a little ledge underneath the door where grease and gunk accumulate and it was really grim. So I am sat on the floor with a bowl of soapy water and old toothbrush scrubbing away when DH appears - I will take the oven door off he says, only take a minute. I think its taken him 1.5 hours to put the door back on.
One load of washing over airer, old box of photographs reduced by about half. Not quite sure what to do with the unwanted ones now, they may just end up in a bag in the wheelie bin, thought about burning them but that might be messy.
And coats are always a problem in our house - probably because DS1 and I both have a thing about buying coats. No-one really has space in their wardrobes for them and there isnt much room in the understairs cupboard. I did get rid of two of my coats last week but the rack in the hall still looks messy.0 -
Kitchen surfaces given a complete clean. Fridge emptied, cleaned and reorganised.
Then DD cooked herself some lunch and DH seems to have had some kind of battle with his coffee machine. And lost. They’ve tidied up in their own ways but I’m now not really sure why I bothered. Still it looked clean for about an hour I suppose.
I’ve unearthed my trays and pots from the garage. If the wind ever dies down then I will go out to the greenhouse for an hour. Or two.0 -

Ooh - that's made me realise I could waggle my flexible (and narrow) vacuum cleaner extension tube down it!
Been to town for bits - managed to dodge the wintry squall:T
Got a visitor to school this week (who's coming in for free) so I have arranged for the PTA to pay for a thank you gift. Chocs bought. Still need to get her a bottle of wine. It's science week:cool: I've also bought bits for various experiments and scrounged lots of one item from a well known chemist. I have NO shame. I also need to pop to Dunelm for some wadding. (Material for astronaut space 'nappies'). Shame I didn't realise this when I was buying curtains :rotfl:Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Well, if there's a radiator at least they'll get dried/aired.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Coats and shoes. Nightmare, and potentially pretty niffy as well. Permanent problem here, where to put them both. I use it as an excuse to get rid of the excess and am now very strict about what I allow myself to buy. Having said that, one of my Brittan* Ferries extravagences was a new waterproof jacket, because it's just so pretty. I never used to buy anything in their onboard shops, assuming it was all a rip off, but I now regret that because they're not.
Anyhoo, WM did its thing while I was out this morning and OH pegged it out, so he's defo in my very, very good books. I'm too knackered to do the superking at the moment, and V clearly wasn't moved to move, either, so that'll have to be done later.
I'm a bit cream-crackered, to be honest. This morning's task was a lot more effort than I'd bargained for, but at least it's done and I can feel virtuous and that doesn't happen often.Better is good enough.0
