Apologies as I know it's above the OP's stated price, but we got a Dyson v7 a few months ago and it's been absolutely brilliant! Can't recommend it enough. Great suction, and very light and manoeuvrable if mobility is an issue.

My favourite is Henry. My current one is 12 years old, no issues and the suction is still good.

I think vacuum cleaners are one of the things you get what you pay for, I don't think you will get good suction on a budget new.

Therefore your best bet may be to buy secondhand/reconditioned.

Over your budget new but Meile is good for suction. I have just purchased a second hand gtech (original version, price was well within your budget) for ease and was very impressed with it although I am not sure if I would want it as my only cleaner (no attachments can run out of charge) perhaps that and a budget full size hoover would be a good mix.

We have a small dog so our next vacuum is going to be a Shark Life Away Pet model, one of the facebook pages we use every owner on there raves about them

Ok. Buy a vacuum cleaner. They’re a really labour-saving way of cleaning dust and dirt from flooring.

Please don't waste your money on the Shark Duo Clean with Flexology. I've written a longer post elsewhere on the forum about it It seems great for the first week or two then loses suction and can't suck everything up which means whatever is in the u bend of the hose when you switch off gets spat out. Curry's gave me a refund this morning.

So there was something stuck in the hose and you got a refund?

Did you try Shark and their guarantee?

We bought a Shark and it's great. Much better than the previous Dyson.
    Je suis sabot...
  • I've pulled several Shark vacuums cleaners out of the trash and taken them apart to see what went wrong, and basically.. here's what I found.

Filters clog because the cyclone system they use is really badly designed, Not saying that all cyclone systems are badly made mind you... I have a Dyson Cinetic "Filterless" and the thing is impressively good in terms of cyclone machines.. But Sharks rely heavily on the filters for the actual filtration due to the fact that the cyclones only filter out the really big heavy crap.

The rest of the machine is badly designed, poorly engineered, and most definitely designed to work well for a short time and then break down (Possibly not fail totally, but work much worse) The designers seem to not know how airflow works, which leads to weird right angles, tiny hoses, very small spaces for the filth to go through etc.. Leading to endless jams, and loss of performance.

And finally, they are unbelievably gaudy. Covered in enough vacu-metalized silver bling to make any gangster jealous. Why the heck you need your vacuum to look like a 57 Cadillac is beyond me.

And yet you post this in another thread:
Iv gone through most brands including Vax and Dyson.

Recently bought a shark lift away. Im not usually loyal to brands but il never buy another brand again. Fairly priced and it’s performance is miles better than my mums Dysons, actually makes my carpet look newer. It all clips together so easily and emptying after every use is really quick and easy. It handles amazingly and even has a headlight!

Like somebody once said to me. ‘Once you’ve bought a shark, you become a shark salesman to your friends and family’.
