We've had a Henry for ten years now and I expect it to last another 10 years.

Mine is just over 20 years old and I have had to replace the contacts in the flex winder, and the hose. Not bad going, I reckon.

As for being suitable for a disabled user, I guess it depends what disabilities they have. Sitting in a wheelchair and dragging Henry by his hose would be a tedious job, getting tangled in the flex, etc.

Oh and it’s suction is in a different league, a Henry is a piddling device compared to these

Couldn't disagree more. I've had Titan vacuum cleaners for my business. had them both a week and went straight back to screwfix, as has all of the Titan stuff I have had, Poor build quality, poor motors, no guts. Awful brand.

I have to do the vacuuming but in recent years have developed a bad back so I first tried a £120 cordless AEG model. It was ok for cleaning up but I still had to use the corded about every 2 weeks. So when I saw the ads for the Dyson V10 claimed to be a replacement for corded cleaners I took the plunge. Bought 3 months ago it via Dyson web site on 12 months interest free.
I have now given my 2000 watt corded away as I have not used it since.
I have hung mine on the Kitchen wall and charge it about every 2 weeks. But now apart from the kitchen and hall I just spend 5 mins doing a different room every few days and its a piece of cake. The kitchen and hall get done daily in no time at all.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I suppose it's very much the usual 'no clear winner' that you get when you ask a very broad section of people to recommend something they think is best!

Having said that it's instigated a good old look round at a wide range of vacuums including some I would never have thought about. So thanks to each and every one of you for taking the time to contribute.

Whilst on the afformentioned good old look round, I found this name cropping up a few times and it seems to tick all of the boxes I was looking for. Anyone have any views or experience on this p!ease?

I had a similar size and design 2 in 1 AEG for 18 months and it was very good on doing the stairs and keeping the house clean on a day by day basis. Very easy to use it as a handheld. However I did need to use my old corded one about every 2 to 3 weeks to do a deep clean.
One problem was that the dust bin was .3 litres and the filter needed cleaning every few days. But its now passed to my granddaughter who is very please with it.
If it was me on a sub £100 budget I would go for the Morphy Richards model with a larger battery capacity and a .4 litre dust bin on sale at £95.

That does look a better option than the one in my post - just the job in fact.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look at it.

Please don't waste your money on the Shark Duo Clean with Flexology. I've written a longer post elsewhere on the forum about it It seems great for the first week or two then loses suction and can't suck everything up which means whatever is in the u bend of the hose when you switch off gets spat out. Curry's gave me a refund this morning.
