Hi Kaycastle, I agree the increased prices are scary! Try not to panic though, you are in a good financial situation with two incomes and a large savings pot (I know it’s for your loft conversion but if anything happened it’s there too for emergencies plus many people don’t save for this kind of work and borrow instead - you are already ahead of the game!).

Thank you @Bluegreen143 You are right of course - I'm relieved we are in a good position and yeh I don't want that huge emergency pot going on anything until these unsettling times are over. I think it will be at least a year before we start to get out the woods. We are really lucky. I do sometimes get a bit frustrated- I feel like I'd prefer to spend that money on myself (not that I ever spend that money on myself) rather than on the energy bills.

Before all the cost increases on everything that would be like us staying in a B&B twice a month with money spare with how much the energy bill has gone up. Which we never would have dreamed of doing.

But there isn't much point in speaking this way as it just makes me angry and its out of my control.

We've been on a nice walk this morning - a lot of traffic everywhere because of bank holiday but that led us on a different adventure. Went up a big hill that had a folly at the top.

    Hiya All,

It's been a while - but I'm so pleased to grab 5 minutes to post and put my thoughts together.

I've had a rather bumpy return to work. I won't go into too much detail as I have a handle on it but its really been hard to accept a demotion in order to do less hours. Feels like last few years of proving myself was for nowt

Will do a money update soon too :)
