I had a bit of a rough week.

Was overlooked for a position I've been doing already for a long time and been falsely promised, due to not wanting to put pressure on me...even though I do it already so actually recognising me for it would have made me less stressed. Without any discussion, it really does feel its because I'm going on maternity. They did this while insisting it would actually mean more opportunities for me. While insisting how important I am for the team and how talented. Rolls eyes. The saying fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me came to mind.

Very frustrating, and not the first time I've been taken advantage of but the first time because I'm becoming a mum.

After much grumbling I've cheered up and taking it as an opportunity to only think of myself and family when it comes to decision making and most definitely look for other positions after maternity and definitely make sure I do part time. At least I know where I stand.

My manager and I are trying to put forward a case and kick up a fuss about it but I don't know whether it will achieve anything in time.

It's all so disappointing and really damages my confidence.

Sorry to hear that KC, really not on if it’s because of your pregnancy!! These things are hard to prove though. Cynic advice here- make sure you keep notes of what happens when just in case you want to refer to them in future.
Hope you have a nice weekend planned?

    Thank you @powerspowers
I shall note it down, it's so hard to prove which is so annoying. I'm glad to have support from manager and some friends there, must be horrible to feel completely on your own when these things happen.

My OH managed to find petrol at 5am this morning.

We just had sausage sandwiches for breakfast. We are doing a bit of sorting the house today and tomorrow inlaws are coming will be lovely to see them and they are bringing a moses basket they got from a friend which is super exciting.

    What about you?

Sorry to hear about the work stuff 🙁 I had something similar happen in my old job (but because my boss had taken against me, rather than being pregnant). I raised a grievance about it, which put in train a chain of events that ultimately led to being made redundant at the first opportunity. Looking to leave is definitely the better option!

    Thoughts:
    - Quite aggressively saving right now, just for whatever might come in the next couple of years and for the inevitable loft conversion
    - I know I haven't filled in a lot of things like haircuts, clothes, entertainment. That's because I don't deem these necessary and work on the principal that if I don't have the money in my account then I don't do those things. Plenty of ways to entertain for free, plus the national trust membership gives us a lot to do. I tend to use our fb marketplace earnings for random cake and things when we're out and about :) Got £60 this week on fb marketplace but that will probably slow down now
    - Buffer in my account usually covers small unexpected things like dentist or vet and got quite a big savings pot :). Usually buffer in my account is on an upwards trajectory.
    - It will be really nice when the furniture repayment ends in December. Its the only time I've ever done that and only because it was 0% interest and really really wanted a normal looking bedroom with matching furniture for the first time ever. But I've still not liked paying it each month.
    - Groceries seems like something that could come down. I've worked really hard to stick to meal planning at the moment and the bill has definitely come down here and usually just a little under £300 each month now.

The car part we were waiting for finally arrived and the work was done. Cost us about £500 in the end which OH has used his account buffer for. Hopefully that's the end of car nonsense for now has MOT in a few weeks but it should be all good for that.

Was looking at house prices this morning as I sometimes wonder about moving to a 3 bed instead of bothering with building work and the prices are just ridiculous and the houses are so horrible. Makes no sense to move with all the expense and hassle. What a crazy world.

Have a few more items for baby arriving today. Doing really well on my list, not many things to get now.

Ah we felt the opposite! Bought a four bed (3 bed semi + loft conversion) at a similar price to a less shabby 3bed. We looked at a few houses where we considered extensions/lofts etc but ultimately I’m glad we didn’t! But depends on your local market conditions  I suppose.
Good look with the loft fund
