Just caught up on your diary. Wish I was as switched on as you at your age! Good luck with baby bump. All your planning seems to be coming together well.

    Hiya @powerspowers

Its been a long couple of weeks! x

I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes - have had to change diet and go on medication and its all been a bit stressful. It will go away after pregnancy as its caused by hormones and its quite common to get in 3rd trimester but it is such a pain.

Whats worse is the diet that I have to do is very low carb which is much more expensive -.- Lots of cheese, nuts, meat and eggs as they have virtually no sugar. It is sooooo annoying, takes longer to prepare everything and so my groceries budget is probably definitely messed up this month.

And also no treats at christmas - can't have chocolate or puddings or cakes. :(:(:(

    Money updates:
    - I increased energy dd to £88 this month just to be sure we're covered
    - I moved £600 more into emergency fund so that's at £1439/£2500 target I set myself by June
    - Groceries budget will likely be higher but I've not been out much at all as too tired and not going to risk eating out either so hopefully won't spend much on misc/treats. So I've increased the groceries budget to £300 instead of £240
    - Made £30 more on FB marketplace

Sorry to hear you’ve got GD and its rubbish about the Christmas treats! Good you can eat all the cheese though 😃

I definitely found I wanted my home comforts and didn’t want to go out much towards the end of pregnancy which was good for saving some money.

    Chicker 😊

Hiya all Its been a while, how is everyone?

Have finally got round to posting! Life with a newborn is amazing and a steep learning curve :) Baby is almost 7 weeks old now.

I'm absolutely loving being a mum - definitely changes perspective and focus. Feels like I have a proper purpose beyond just work/daily grind.

So we're doing very well here.

    A few financial things:
    -  We did have a lot of storm damage the other week - insurance people coming this week
    - Car has issues again - we've given up on it now and OH is cycling to work mostly
    - Had a few emergency buys in the first few weeks and also a couple of 3am purchases as a bit of shopping therapy which I think I can forgive myself for! Spending has slowed down now.
    -Mortgage is £180k
    - Loft conversions savings £29k
    - Emergency find £1999  :P not sure why I've landed up with such an odd number.

My focus at the moment is baby and making sure I keep up with loft conversions savings, as well as adding to emergency fund as this year looks unpredictable
