Thirty something dreaming of not paying mortgage

Today was a historic day as it was the first day of the monthly £1000 overpayments

It was quite exciting seeing that money move out. I think its so the best thing to do - I didn't think savings interest rates could get any lower. I think I could probably get more interest than I do in a whole 5 years just by spending 20 minutes searching the pavements for dropped change.
OH fixed the hose as well
Got a good bucket list going so that's good and we're definitely going to enjoy life a bit more in the next few years.
I deep cleaned the toilet and bathroom yesterday with OH help - really deep clean, its all shiny and completely limescale free and lovely. We also did a lot of gardening i.e. cutting back huge bushes and mowing our jungle. Still got a bit more time off which is so nice.
So to do list currently is:
- Read books
- Get new sunglasses
- New bedding
- Deep clean: Just bedrooms and kitchen left.
- Continue gardening. Although this is very hard work in the sun!!

Great OP 😀 Love the thought of you doing better from money on the ground than in interest 😂 Gave me a flashback to my last year at Uni, when my friend and I used to run out of money in our favourite nightclub and then do circuits of the place, looking for money on the floor. We did well - usually got another two rounds of drinks out of it 😂!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Well done on the £1k OP, that's great!
I wanted to say I'd been enjoying reading your diary and I will be following closely
I love your goal of being morgage free in 10 years! I'm currently aiming for 13 years, but you've made me wonder whether I can stretch that goal a bit more!
