Thank you everyone. I've just signed up to clear score and it's gone up which is great. I have no financial connections which is amazing news.

Apparently I still have a bank account I don't know about so off down there shortly to get that sorted.

Next job get a credit builder card for purely my diesel only. My only worry is if I apply and I'm rejected will it knock me back? I quite like the idea of the asda one for the cashback, I occasionally take a trip to asda, like once every 3 months and buy my twins clothes so that could be an added bonus
  • Knock you back in what way?

If you mean the score then you can safely ignore it.

Try an eligibility checker first before applying for any cards

All that will show is a search. The score will drop but that's ok - it's not real and not used in lending criteria.

The score is "not real" but it pretty much reflects my chances of being approved for a credit card at any given time. I regularly do eligibility checks just to see how likely am I to get that particular credit card. When my score was higher, I had much higher chance. When my score dropped significantly, I had almost no chance. When it went up a bit, my chances went up too. I do the eligibility checks directly on credit cards issuers' websites, such as American Express, rather than on Noddle or ClearScore.
