I've never been refused credit until now.
My ex has destroyed my credit rating as he wasnt paying the mortgage. I don't need a bashing over I should have paid it, I was living with my parents on SMP so had no way of affording it. I'm after advise and help only please!
House has sold and I want to get my ratings back so eventually I can get my own place again.
Thanks in advance

Check each of the 3 CRAs and make sure you are no longer financially associated with your ex.
From now on make sure everything is paid on time, pay off credit cards in full once the statement is issued. It will get betterI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

I don't have any credit cards
Never late paying
I've removed myself from the joint account. Only joint thing we had that I'm aware of was the mortgage0 -
That is good - definitely worth checking that the association is gone too. It might take a month or two.
You need to build up some good history to demonstrate good behaviour- phone contract, credit card, that sort of thing.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

as per comment #2, check the credit report agencies, which are free at MSE Credit Club, Noddle, Clearscore
with each of these, there is a section you click on
Noddle = "connections and other names"
ClearScore = "Financial Connections"
Moneyclub = "Financial Associations"0 -
These are not credit reference agencies (CRA), just websites that show your credit report provided by CRAs.
The three major CRAs in the UK are Experian, Equifax and TransUnion (CallCredit).
MSE CreditClub shows your credit report from Experian
ClearScore from Equifax
and Noddle from TransUnion0 -
