Autumn years debt fighting

Quick update after July DMP & Morg payments which I’ve added to my signature.
This last month has not been a good one personally as a close family member has been diagnosed with the dreaded C - we are awaiting results from further tests / scans and will know more over the next couple of weeks. It is horrendous for all concerned and we are trying to cope the best we can.
Financially I’m still working and actually find it easier to go to work at the moment. It is a welcome distraction from the nightmare we find ourselves in Budgeting wise I’m still doing ok ish although I’m not as organised with food prep / shopping at the moment but that is understandable. I’m hoping to do a bit of batch cooking tonight to make sure I can grab something quick when I’ve been working.
Hope anyone reading is doing ok.Started this journey in 2013 (on a previous diary) with approx 94,000 total of morg and debt combined

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Managed to get some batch cooking done over the weekend and wrote a list and got supplies in for the coming week. Caught up with some house jobs which has made me feel a bit more in control. Worked today - it was a nice easy day and enjoyed the company of my colleagues.
I’ve been catching up on various diaries which I enjoy, and off to catch up on some more. Trying to avoid the news as it’s all so sad and depressing.
Also keeping an eye on my pension performance - it’s been doing really well but I want to be ready to drop some funds should they start to tumble.Started this journey in 2013 (on a previous diary) with approx 94,000 total of morg and debt combined

All payments made for the end of August - DMP ticking along nicely - all defaulted and two out of the four have passed on to collection agencies, both have been fine to deal with and no hassle from anyone. Anyone reAding who is anxious about starting on the DMP route please don’t be - I wish I’d done it a long time ago. I have had very little contact from all four companies and not one phone call from them.
My budget is going ok, still amazed at how much food prices are increasing but still managing to eat well and pick up offers etc got some fun stuff coming up and it’s all budgeted for (lots of overtime worked ha )
Still lots of worrying over family member who is ill but treatment has started so it’s fingers crossed - I’m not sure why I added it to my update last time and think I’m not going to mention it on here again.
I’ve updated my signature with progress made

Have enjoyed reading your diary and congratulations on working out such a great work, life balance. You are managing to pay off your debts while managing to do the things you enjoy and get to spend time with your grandchild. Fingers crossed that your pension continues to do well and enables you to get your debt cleared off even quicker.0

Thanks for reading and your kind reply. It’s a tricky one with the pension as it’s growing at a higher percentage than my morg interest rate so it makes sense to try and carry on paying it down for as long as I can but it is comforting to know I could access it if I really needed to
Hope you have a good weekend

Keep plodding on. The more you can pay off without touching your pension the better off you will be longer term. It sounds like you are doing really well in a difficult situation.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
