Help Administrator has banned my IP address

Some guy harassed my son on Xbox yesterday telling him he's going to get his whole family and get him in trouble and they started arguing.

Today I find he's contacted virtually the whole family on their Facebook and Instagram asking to be a friend and suddenly I can't log on to forum or post without getting above message.

I was in a thread yesterday on forum so it's really annoying as I can't continue.

Seems no device will work on MSE forum on my WiFi. Only way I posted this was by disconnecting WiFi on phone.

Someone help me please. What do I do?

I have clicked to report to MSE but don't know if they even got it or how long it will take and my post I was on was quite important to me to get sorted quickly.

Contact MSE web development team .
Reboot router first though as its unlikely you have a private IP .

turn your router off for 5 minutes and you should get a new IP allocated by your ISP thats assuming you dont pay for a static I address

Why do you think Xbox or Facebook have anything to do with MSE Forums? The more-likely solution is that your home IP address has changed (e.g. a router reboot) and the newly-assigned IP address falls into a range which MSE Forums have blocked. Reboot it again (as per above) and see if you get a new IP address. https://whatismyipaddress.com/ will let you know your current and new addresses (after a reboot).

Im sure you can change the settings so your son only plays with those he knows and no voice communication.

Ok Thanks guys, I'm back in on my PC again, maybe I am becomming paranoid. I was worried about logging into anything.


I basically took the power out of my router for a while to fix as you guys suggested.



This guy panicked me as what he was doing was worse than anything I've experienced personally before. I managed to find most of my family even when the surname was different and established how we were related. I know thats not that hard on Facebook but he did it exceptionally well.


Several of my family were on the phone to me asking about this guying mentioning my son and wanting to be their friend etc. Plus he didnt do it just on Facebook, he was watching them for several days I just found out on Instagram. Just seems a bit too thorough for my liking and so we are wondering how far he will go and if he will/can hack any accounts etc


Your mind starts racing and you start worrying about your online banking etc. So I didnt dare log into mine in case my keystrokes were somehow recorded....yeah I know I am getting carried away, better to play safe though.

I thought he had managed to get my IP blacklisted somehow, that is possible isn't it?

Anyway thank God I had you guys to ask via my phone.


We have all blocked him. apparently he is in Canada and hes not using his real name.


Yes going to sort my Sons security on Xbox a bit more thoroughly.

Oh this is hell its banned again. Posting through my phone again. I'll try the router again.

Ok rebooted router again and back in so have to see how long it lasts this time.

Banned again. So what do I do?

A reboot of the router will no doubt fix it temporary again but then it's bound to go wrong again.

Any ideas?

What is your IP have you checked if its the same after a reboot .
Contact your ISP .
