Sent a letter to agent accepting completion date, but reducing offer for furniture to £500 or dropping sale of furniture altogether. Also outlined several aspects of the whole procedure I've been unhappy with.

I know many of you (I'm talking to you jonewer!) may feel this is leniant but my girlfriend felt going back to the originally offered price for the flat itself at this stage would cause more trouble than it was worth, and require new mortgage offer and other paperwork. I suspect she just didn't want to have to draft new papers!

    Will wait and see...
You can still drop the price right up to the moment the deal is done and dusted. Plenty of time yet! ;)

I always thought you should treat people as you wish to be treated yourself and what goes around comes around.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

There is a right way and a wrong way to settle the score (although I have to admit that this one is begging for a less than ethical response).

So what would be the ethical way of getting back at this vendor?

She was livid at the seller and told you me pull out earlier, but I was adamant that I wanted the place

Strikes me the seller scents someone desperate to get on the property ladder and is seeing pound signs. Up to you whether you go along with it.

The buyer can drop their offer at the last minute if they wish... no need to amend any bank paperwork. It would only be a problem it they needed MORE money.
Given the sellers attitude I'm all for dropping the offer on the dat of completion.
Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.

Agreed. I wouldn't go ahead with this sale for all the tea in china now if I was the OP.

The thing is, these sellers think that just because they have made a small fortune on their overinflated rat hole, they can look down at FTB's as if they are cr&p on the bottom of their shoes and they should be grateful for anything.

Really winds me up, hence the reason why I will really relish seeing some of these greedy self important !!!!!holes get their fingers seriously burnt.

OP.. walk away.. because I get the feeling you will be left with a flat full of problems and you won't be happy. Its a buyers market, the market is seriously cooling off. This time next year you will probably have the pick of the crop... time isn't of the essence any more.

Good luck though whatever happens.. just don't let that seller have an easy ride of it.
