Flat buying - seller turning nasty

hi - she certainly is a lying little toe-rag isn't she ? if you really want this flat, then, hang on in there. Tell her that you dont want ANY of her sodding furniture - you would truly HATE sitting on her settee wondering what she had done to it - wouldn't you ?
she is probably going on holiday for christmas !!!
i rarely "tease" people with vindictiveness, but, this woman is truly not worth being nice to
i would go ahead with offering only the original price, and no furniture, and then drop the price £5k the day before exchange/completion - many a person has done it in the past.
If you save this much money you can get a skip in and really enjoy dumping her gear !!!!! - as she will probably leave it behind anyway just to annoy you.
with regard to your current accommodation : -
a landlord cannot get a tenant out without a court order. if i were you i would be talking very nicely to your current landlord, explaining the situation, and asking for their cooperation in extending the time you can stay in their property. if they are professional landlords they will know you cannot be forced to leave without a court order, and will also know that it will be a lot cheaper for them to allow you to stay on than for them to take you to court - which can take 3-4 months.
Dont be confrontational, just explain your circumstances.
if you have to move to another rental, then you will be legally obliged to pay 6 months rent whether you stay there one week or six months.0 -
Not too put too fine a point on it..
If you eat S*** it leaves a nasty taste in your mouth.
Walk away.. Hell no.. RUN away!tribuo veneratio ut alius quod they mos veneratio vos0 -

Knowing what it's like to be messed around I'm not going to tell them they can't have the room. They are sorting out their references and I'm currently making sure our letting agent is doing everything to help as the couple are very keen and seem nice. We have to be out by 8th December.
I think we can find a short term let though. We're looking at the moment.0 -
Hi ghekko, been reading through all that's happened to you & your GF, what a nasty person your seller is! She's been messing you around big time, don't feel bad about standing your ground.
I agree with lots of what's been said - tell her to pack her furniture in her going away bag and take it with her! And blaming you for not sticking to the deal - what a witch. I hope she agrees to the £2K drop but if she digs her heels in dig yours in too. Tell her you've had to drop to cover the cost of accommodation, thanks to her.
I had a right pig of a buyer, even after agreeing to all his terms and agreeing to leave furniture for free he wanted me to drop £2K the day before exchange. I told him to shove it in the end and my house went back on the market for a day till the EA's realised I was dead serious, panicked and stepped in to sort it all out.
Hope it works out for you.0 -
Good God, Tell her to stick her furniture. It is amazing if you go on Ebay and put your address into the search customise display and then put nearest as a search to find amazing furniture at fantastic prices. Furniture you might actually like. Please Pm me if you can't understand my directions about ebay. I just bought a fabulous looking chaise lounge in red suede and a chair 2 seater for less than what it would cost for a chair. The stuff was in a penthouse show home. Even tho it is far away it is still cheap to transport to Scotland from London. I also bid on a bedroom suite from a showroom furniture shop and paid 20% of the original price. Do not pay any large amount for her furniture. People just about give their furniture away as when people need new furniture they just want rid of it. Do not forget to try gumtree for furniture and wooo.co.uk you will be amazed at the prices and get lovely modern stuff. TAffy0

Yes tell her you have to pay rent for another month and that is going to cost you big time and you cant afford the furniture now.0

Just to add to my earlier comment about my sale, the EA's eventually talked me into dropping £1K then used £1K from what I was paying them to make up the difference. OK so I still dropped £2K (£8K in total), but I've never heard of an EA doing that?
And now we're in our lovely house, the stresses and trauma a distant memory :T
And he was a BTL, and after reading about the HPC :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Fingers crossed for you ghekko0 -
I think it is still worth trying to negotiate with the vendor for the original price, without the furniture. If she is really keen on completing to get the deposit for her other property then she is more likely to be willing to accept your terms just to get a quick sale. You've come this far. I still think it is worth hanging in there. However, the question is whether this property is worth putting up with all the hassle for. That is something that only you and your partner can know. Even if this vendor does leave furniture in the property when you move in, you can always sell it on ebay or flog it in the local paper. I really think this vendor will end up leaving something behind, just because she can;t find any other means of disposing of it in the relatively short time left.0

Or what she had done on it:DRENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
