Old Style Daily Tuesday 26th February 2019

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

Thank you everyone who commented on my nephew going to Spain for a year. TA you are correct in your recollection, my sister in law wasn’t happy when he went to university and he wasn’t happy that his mum kept coming up and staying nearby for the weekend. She is still doing this, and if anything even more frequently. I do think that this is why he going abroad. I think he is feeling crowded and wants to put a bit of distance between them. I agree that it will probably do both of them good. Meanwhile I’m staying safely out of the way and making sure that I’m not dragged into it.

I had a lovely day yesterday, slowly wandering through the park and even sitting outside a tea room watching the world go by. I’m going to make the most of this weather while it lasts and do the same today.

Before I go out I want to get the bedding out on the line, and run the vacuum over and that will do for today.

Whatever you are doing today have a good day everyone.
  • Morning Hollyharvey and all who will be here later.

I've had a really decent sleep and feel like a human rather than a ratty grump. Not sure what I'm doing today but it will involve washing as I want to capitalise on the sunshine.

No other news. I'm thinking particularly about Poppy today. Quite a few of 'our group' are missing and I hope everyone is ok.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Oh your poor nephew I didn't realise your SIL still hadn't come to terms with his departure. There's a time to let go and she has well overstepped it.

I too had a better sleep last night. It must be all the toiling I've been doing in the fresh air!! I am now taking two days off from my green-fingered labours, I think I have earned it! Being Tuesday it's my weekly coffee meet up with my friend, followed by lunch. We are still working our way through the menu but I have a hankering for fish and chips today so I may go back to the beginning! It will be our last meet up for a couple of weeks as friend and her DH are off to Spain at the weekend. Envious - you bet!

I did a silly trick yesterday morning when getting my lunchtime tub of soup out of the freezer. I put a tub of beef casserole on the top to sort the soups out and forgot to put it back! I spotted it much much later, by when it had defrosted, so I had to re-christen my tea and have that instead. It's not my favourite meal. I make stuff like that for when DS calls in for lunch on his way to a late shift.

AOD I often think about POPPY too. In fact I think about a lot of our absent friends and I hope they are all ok. I worry when people go AWOL and hope they are just too busy to post by enjoying life. Meanwhile ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely amongst us. Take care all and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts. Take care all xx

    Good morning

House feels really chilly again this morning after our February heatwave yesterday.

Good course yesterday lovely people makes such it a pleasurable job sometimes bar all the driving. i did my usual trick last night just came in and went to bed by 9 in fact I even left my case in the boot so I need to rescue that in a minute. I am such a rock chick

nanny the chara is ready to go but i will be fighting to get mother in line first. In fact I'm chucking her in head first. During training I turn my phone off...rude not too. When i put the phone on again in the car it rang immediately and there was a very shouty mother ....WHERE ARE YOU so I calmly told her I was on the way home from work and I got a screechy row about her needing to get hold of me. Why you may ask....is there an emergency? NO....she wanted to know what time I was picking her up for shopping today  For 3 years now it's been 11am. Anyway when I got home i checked my phone and I had 11 missed calls from her from 1-4 We need to talk today as I cannot cope with her acting like this.

So thats my day today for all my sins and I cant wait...not. i also need to tell her next week is Thursday not Tuesday which will prompt a dying fly tantrum and 42 missed calls no doubt :D

taff you're right I may pick some up in morries today I need the vitamin boost :D

Hope you all have a better day than me which trust me will not be difficult :D

    Morning All

I'm enjoying this lovely weather although we haven't had the high temperatures some of you have been enjoying, the car said it was 15.5 degrees when I left work at 4.30, hoping for similar today.

I had to go to the docs yesterday as I've had a sore ear since the ear candling last week - I have an infection of the eustachian tube, probably caused by the sinuses trying to drain. Anyway, ABs for me and no swimming until it clears.

Well done TA, sounds like you worked hard yesterday, enjoy your lunch out today.
    Good luck Nelski!
    Are you OK tru?

I had someone round to look at work on the garden yesterday, not sure he quite understood what I want but I'll wait to see the quote. Thought I wasn't going to get rid of him, I heard all about his rather nasty divorce and various other woes, I was glad when he went, I was cold and hungry!

Have a happy Tuesday, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Light here and a bit hazy no sun as yet, hoping it'll appear at some point and not too late in the day. Was a glorious day yesterday sun shining all day.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, both sons still in their pits, DS1 enjoying his last lie-in - he goes back to work tomorrow but has the remaining bit of annual leave to take next week.

Dinner last night was scampi, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, I had baked fish, jacket potato and veg. Today sons are having lunch at outlaws, and it's a cooked lunch, so they have already said they won't want a big meal for dinner, so not sure what we'll be having, I'll think of something.

Got a line of washing dry yesterday but didn't get another load in last night, so will put some in shortly and ask for it to be put out later.

Yesterday work was unexpectedly busy, not sure what will happen today, like the busy times though.

Work seems to have settled down a bit, we'll see how it goes.

    Keep safe and well x

    We're going to visit mother.
Then I think I need to clean and re-organise the kitchen cupboards. I always stand bottles of oil etc in old ice cream containers or similar, saves the shelves getting messy, need to throw old ones away and replace. I always date everything with a sharpie pen but some how I always get a packet which hides at the back.

Thinking of all those finding life difficult

    Take care all

Good morning, it seems quite a nice morning here.

Holly, keep your head under the parapet for a while till SIL sorts herself out!

That's a good idea of yours SO, standing messy bottles in ice cream containers

Nelski, I think when people get very old they sometimes get very selfish!! My Dad was very like your Mum - if I said i was going to/been to work, it was "Huh! you don't know what work is" I was often seething when walking home from visiting him. You have my sympathy,

He once asked me how I passed my time - I had three children and all that goes with that, a part time job, and him giving me hassle at every turn!!

TA, hope you enjoy your day. Like you, I wonder about posters who've disappeared, and worry about them. You wonder what's happened in their lives to stop them posting.

Redruby, yes, curry hangs about a bit - all I can smell is onions/garlic from a batch of Bolognese I made last night

Usual day for me, though this afternoon I'm going to my nearest Bon Mar*he to look at the jeans, Whoo hoo!!!

    Take care folks
