Registered keeper in UK driver lives abroad

I am the registered keep of the car but the person who got the parking charge lives abroad and had been using my car back in November.
The company asked who was driving and I told them, now months later they have received a letter threatening CCJ's and other things. The cost has also gone up to £160 from the original £60.
What's the best way to deal with this should I deal with it as the registered keeper or should the driver?

Which ppc is this? Repeat to them the drivers details and ask them to acknowledge receipt. Do it by first class mail.0

They are Vehicle control services. Since I got the parking charge in November and told them who the driver was I haven't heard anything it was the driver who received a letter today.0

But they received it abroad? So what, then! Are they planning to live here?
Would a CCJ matter to them?
If not, tell them to stop worrying. If they live permanently abroad, this is nothing.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes they live abroad and have no plans to ever live in the UK. They were just concerned after receiving the letter that it mentions that it would potentially go to court and they would be chased for any debt.
Is it possible for these companies to take people from abroad to court and then chase them for the debt?0 -
just because they are powerless to chase them overseas.
In order for the PPC to serve papers on the driver, unless the rules have changed since I was doing the job, they would have to involve The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and have a Consular Officer serve the papers on the defendant. The consul charges by the hour, (£150 in Switzerland), and fares, overnight accommodation etc., are all added.
I had to do this once in a child custody case in the U.S.A. I flew from Houston to Alberqueque, (1000 miles each way), and charged for 32+ hours, flights, hotel, car hire, meals etc.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

can you clarify
you named the driver and gave them an address that was not in the UK
the driver received a letter to his home address (not in UK) asking for payment and threatening court action
where is "abroad"?0 -
You've dealt with the scumco in the ideal way....informed them that the driver is someone who lives overseas is an absolute winner.
The PPC scumco can't simply decide to serve papers on someone at a UK address that they know the person doesn't live at just because they are powerless to chase them overseas.
That's the behaviour of pure scum.0 -
