I agree that the card blocks the view of the screen but it doesn't seem a major issue to me. I put my card in front of the machine screen and remove it after around 2 seconds and only once has there been a problem and I think that was because it was the very first transaction with a new card.0

ContactLESS
You don't have to touch the screen, you just hold it near it, where you hold it so to not block the screen is up to you0 -
You still need to have it close enough for the reader to read the card - these terminals don't have powerful readers so the card needs to be within a couple of centimetres.0

But you can see the screen, I honestly don't see any of the issues displayedin the OP. it beeps, i move it back, it says authorised (or not) and i get on.0 -
Oh I agree with that ... but the screen still (usually) needs to be covered to initiate the contactless payment. (That's the only point I was commenting on).0

I am determined to do one with NO blocking of the screen now! I cant say Ive ever consciously thought about it, I just thrust my card out and worry about the credit card bill later :eek:0 -
I've noticed a lot my card being refused randomly when I make a contactless payment, and my bank told me that it's a security issue.
If the machine refuses contactless it will accept the normal pin entry.
It's the bank randomly making you input your pin.
Mine did this in a Sainsbury,s supermarket,i asked the assistant what the problem was and she told me ( rightly or wrongly ) that the contactless uses a different system to the pin and card system even though they use the same machine, mine would not work with contactless but went straight thru with the pin number0 -

there are many contacless terminals now that dont have a keypad so no way of entering a pin0 -
Some terminals have a row of four lights above the screen which light in sequence as the card is being read. Four lights payment gone through.0

Most of the ones I've used have this, or very similar. I think some have it along the very top of the screen so just don't cover the whole screen and you can see it easily.0
