I don't understand how I got the number one sales for campaign 7 at all looking at some peoples totals on here!! Must be a slow area!!

My AM is really nice, I think i'm quite lucky by the sounds of it. I hope she's still really nice when I want more streets

Do you guys ever run promotions to entice people? I was thinking of trying to promote Pro To Go in the next campaign by giving a sample away with each brochure (only to people who have ordered from me though, so will prob need about 30 samples) And then whoever orders one gets put into a draw to win something? I was thinking either a specific product or give them a "gift certificate" to spend in the brochure.

I love this forum, it's a great place to share all the ideas I get wondering through my tiny little mind!!

ive yet again got more trouble.
I was doing my area, and one of the people from the houses i was delivering came out and said that someone else is doing this area and had been for ages. Was a bit confused, as i was given this area..... i ask my team leader who said she will look into it.... after a week or so i hear nothing, try again with team leader and she said she still needs to speak to area manager.
Finally week later or so i contact her and she says that it is correct and it is NOT my area but another reps (so why give it out), i then ask for another area and i'm told that there are no more so cant have one :(
    so i dnt think i'll b very successful x

    Hi
I've been reading through this thread, and maybe i can clear up some questions.

25 years ago my daughter was 6 months old, and i started selling Avon, i was given a territory, as they were called then, which consisted of around 100 houses.
My territory was rubbish, old people, etc, i contacted the area manager, who came out to visit me.
In these days there was just a manager on the area.
She came and saw me, and i told her all about the area, she gave me another territory, and asked me was i up for earning more money.

Well a single parent with a 6 month old baby you bet i was.

She told me to get a babysitter for the next day, as she was taking me out to lunch.
At lunch, with just me and her, she said that she would like me to work with her, as a recruiter.
I had no car, but Dot would pick me up and drop me off.

So on a morning she would pick me up, drop me off on a road, well call it rivington road, and there would be about 120 houses in it, i had a carrier bag with a starter kit in it. And i would door knock each house trying to find a rep on this area. If i was lucky, and you usually was, i would go in the house, and appoint, so dot could find me, i would put an avon book in the window of the house.

I did this for about 5 years working alongside dot, i saved up and bought my own car, so dot would just ring me and tell me a list of territories she needed filling for the week, and off i would go.

I was very sucessful at this. And i ended up becoming a deputy manager, working on areas in the northwest for managers, that were off sick, on holiday or just needed someone to work along side them to get there rep count up.

In them days you didn't post your order you took it to a pick up point. Usually a reps house. Dot and i split the pick ups up, and went and collected all of the orders, back at dots house we opened them, checked that the cheques were filled in correctly, made sure the front was filled in, then we crossed the names of a list that was sent from avon,
Reps has a credit score, and you started at 6, if you paid for your next order in full you went down to 5, and so on, till you got a credit score of 1.
Now some reps, used to just not pay the full amount, and maybe pay a tenner less, well then there credit rating would gradually creep up.
So an established rep could be on credit rating 5 have a large amount to pay avon, and pay £20 less.

Well Avon would then withhold there orders, we knew this of the list. So after taking the orders in a big blue bag to securico, for them to go to Avon, the night was spent ringing reps up telling them that they wouldn't receive there orders.
We have even spent the next morning running round collecting money and cheques, so peoples orders would be released, as we then rang avon the next night, and told them what we had collected and would be sending off, and the operator would release the order.

I did this for 10 years, in the time when i was working as a manager, i couldn't be a rep, so my mum who has been a rep for over 28 years took my customers over. But i've been back just as a rep now for over 10 years.

The problems started when sales leaders came out, and i dont' mean this offensive to anyone on here who is a sales leader.
But in the olden days, (i'll call them) territories consisted of around 100 houses, we stressed to new reps, not to just go anywhere and post books, as they wouldnt' like it if someone just came and pushed books through where they lived.

This system worked for us then, and the area worked smoothly.

Now all i seem to hear is a lot of upset on areas, customers having 2 and 3 books a week through there door, by reps.
Established reps, and president club reps being upset by this.
And this has happened to me again this week, a sales leader apointed a girl and just gave her my street.

As for managers getting in contact with you, it is hard.

There are a lot of meetings to go to, hell of a lot of paper work to get through, believe me i've been in bed at midnight years ago doing it.

Then there is the kits to make up. On delivery day, managers get boxes of stuff, ie calling books, carrier bags, ring sizers.
These have to be made up into kits, and this can take a bit of time.
Your area books have to be up to day, and match your opus list (a list of reps) old contracts of reps that have left have to be removed.
Then there is the inactive reps, the ones that you have to visit to see why, they haven't sent an order in, and give them more stationary if they wish to continue.

So sometimes it is very easy to for managers to overlook good reps, the ones that regularly send big orders in.

It basically now has become a free for all out there, with reps just deciding to go anywhere.

Oh the good old days, typing this has made me laugh at some of the things i've witnessed over the years, when in new reps houses.

New customers can be found easily,

leave books in all of your local shops

leave cards in supermarkets, asking people do they want a book

go to the local school and leave books for teacher

    play groups, visit them

does your town have a family fun day, take a clip board and ask anyone would they like a avon book, our town has a massive show for 3 days and it was gold dust, the amount of people out.

have you got a small shopping center one, morning, stand in it and find new customers

find out the nearest weightwatchers/slimming world and go along, give leaflets out to the ladies outside as they go in

    good luck out there

Thanks Saint Chris, it was really interesting reading how it used to be done. I remember my mum being a rep about 10 years ago and you used to drop the orders and the money off at somebodys house.

From what I know about Avon, I think the Sales Leadership is a great programme but if too many reps are getting signed up in one area it's never going to work I suppose.

I have decided my mission for the next campaign is to target businesses/schools/nurseries etc. And also try and get more friends and family and their friends and family ordering.

I was so disappointed yesterday, I sorted lots of books out to deliver them to my last streets that I hadn't covered. I did one (no luck) and then I went on to another one but i've had a really bad ear infection and can't hear much and i'm also partially sighted and it was really sunny so I could hardly see, it was a very noisy road so I couldn't hear and I was getting really worked up (i suffer from anxiety) so I only gave out two books and came home :( My ears aren't any better and it's still really sunny so i'm not even going to try again today. So those apart from the few houses I did the rest are going to have to wait until the next campaign. Sorry for waffling on!

Yeah this is a good idea, my ASM suggested this to me as well.

I gave everybody who spent £15 with me a 10% discount on my first campaign, just so they ordered from me initially and then hopefully they'll see i'm a fab rep (lol hope I am anyway!) and then they'll keep ordering with me, here's hoping anyway :D

I like running campaigns, I did an introduce a friend for campaign 8 but nobody seemed to have gone for that one so wont bother with it again. In the next campaign I am doing a prize draw for everybody that buys a Pro To Go lipstick. I'm hoping it'll keep things interesting for my customers and show i'm willing to give them a little something back.

If i signed up again, would i get the same AM?
Or is there any possibility i might get a different one do we think?
