Does anyone know if its worth buying clearance items out of the HT magazine and giving them away as FREE GIFT IF YOU SPEND £20- ?? Lou xx0
-
I do this, I normally buy a 1 pound shower gel or similar.. Although it depends what your area is like.. as if most people will spend over 20 without a free gift offer, you may well be giving out loads and loads of free gifts (which will dent your income from the order).
I think the best thing to do is run a campaign without offering a free gift first to try and judge how many people in your area are willing to spend, if you get quite a lot of people ordering 30 pounds worth then it would probably be wise to only offer a free gift if people spend 30 quid or something like that.
I did 'free gift if you spend 20) on C14, but ive had a much better campaign this time and I am having to buy 6 1 pound free gifts, and one gift set (as a woman spent 153 quid so I thought I should get her summat a bit bigger)
I wonder whether a better way to increase sales and customers is offering a free gift to customers that introduce you to friends and get you extra orders - I am thinking about trying this but I am moving soon so will try in my new territory0 -
I've only just done my first campaign, Louise, but I offered free gift when you spend over £20. I can't say for definite that it helped me, but I did find that every order was £20 or thereabouts, so it looks like it worked - our average order round here is about £10 and my average order for the campaign was £20.30. My ASM gave me the gifts because it was my first campaign, and when she came to do my first order with me she gave me extra gifts in case I got further orders or if I wanted to do it again.
I have started stocking up on freebies from overlapping orders and really cheap offers so I can do it more often.
Edited to add: I offered a free gift for 'introduce a friend' too and got nothing yet - by my area manager said that people will be reluctant to order themselves for a few campaigns until they know you're going to stick around, and will be unlikely to recommend you to a friend until they have got to know you a bit themselves. So if you are new it might be worth waiting a few campaigns before you do that.0 -
good point about being new and ppl possibly not being willing to order if its the first time you have delivered them a catalogue
although i think i have kinda disproved this in my area..
I am delivering in Bromley and my territory is mostly 3 or 4 bed semis belonging to people who are quite well off. Several of my customers stop and have a chat if we cross paths or when i call to collect/deliver and this is only my 3rd campaign - 1st campaign for some of them as I was given more territory.
One lady even placed an order of 153 quid! and it was the first time i had delivered to her!
but I have had many of the older people either not ordering but asking for the next catalogue - or ordering and asking to ensure that I will be coming round regularly.
I am moving (briefly to my parents in sussex) but then am looking at renting in dartford, when I am in dartford I will change my territory, but I am going to keep delivering to my old customers in Bromley as I work in the town - I am currently composing a letter to deliver to all of them saying that I am moving but I am going to keep delivering.0 -
oo another question! sorry :P
I have some stuff to return with the C14 order which i have declared and so on - and I have selected that the courier picks it up...
thing is I dont think anyone is going to be at home when he comes on tuesday.. I sent an email asking if I can leave any directions for him (through the gate in the greenhouse) but i havent got an email back yet.
If he doesnt pick it up, can I still post it back to Avon myself even if i ticked the courier option? or will this mess up the system?0 -
hi snugasagrub - i am in croydon!!! you can return things via post office to avon but it costs you - your best bet is to ring couriers and tell them that you wont be in and tell them where you will leave returns and where they can leave your delivery0
-
ah thats cool
cheers .. you dont happen to have the couriers number do you??

Got signed up today by a lovely sales leader.
She went through everything with me and told me what sales aids to buy etc, she said not to bother with samples unless asked for them.
Already put all my books out just got to pick them up on sat now.
Got orders from work and a couple of friends already so atleast it won't be a blank order i put in on monday.
I look forward to reading through all the tips and advise on here.0 -

she wants me to sign up under her, how much would she earn from my sales say if i placed £200 worth per book what would she get?
I'm a sales leader too. The only difference it will make to you if you sign up under her, another SL or the area manager is the support you may or may not get. What she earns from you won't affect your earnings.
What you need to consider is, will she give you support and guidance and be there if you need help but let you get on with it if you don't?
I joined directly with Avon and got no support at all as a rep so I sometimes wish i had a SL to help me out.
If you are not sure, ask her for a few books to show to work, friends and family and see what response you get and if you enjoy it - before you sign up. If you decide you want to give it a go, you may want to be allocated an area near to where you live too.
hope this helps.:j July '08 wins: £20 Foster Grant sunglasses...Lazy Town DVD...NScessity ActivSkins Kids Sun/swim set...Paddington Bear DVD

Hi
Was anyone else as disappointed as me that the free tester vials of U (Ungaro for her) were the paper ones that you pull apart and scratch!. These are sooo rubbish as one rub on the wrist and the paper no longer smells and last on your wrist all of about 5 seconds. Come on Avon help us out by being able to give customers proper samples.
On a happier note just got my copy of brochure 15 and it looks fab0
