Guessing if you asked 100 people all bar the Op would think their car had been stolen and the police would be their first call
Unless the OP knows something we don't and it's not taxed/insured/unpaid loan etcRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

It's likely to be a combination of what is cheap and available.0 -
I'm enjoying the missing/lost/forgotten car tales.
Mine is less entertaining.
About ten years ago, I lived in a small block of flats with a residential car park behind it. I'd left my car there on the Friday. I went out on the Sunday and it was gone.
It had been stolen.0 -

Depending on the entry system some of them are a doddle to get into. My eldest lad was, up until last week, a mechanic. They were called out at least once a month to get into cars for various reasons. He said they could usually be started too. They never failed when they needed to do it.
He won't tell me how but apparently it's not difficult.0 -

Why on earth would your son not tell you how? I wouldn't expect you to relay that information onto a public forum but does he not trust you?
I don't think mechanics are subject to any official secrets act.0 -

He's probably paranoid but just doesn't want to say and I see no reason to waterboard him or the suchlike to find out.
I'm also not particularly bothered about finding out but suspect good old YouTube will be enlightening for someone bothered enough.0
