    You're a loon magnet.

You need to get somebody else to vet your lodgers as you clearly can't spot the oddballs....

My only lodger had a main residence over 60 miles away, are most lodgers poor, and maybe more odd than average?
  • For info my split was

    Amazing
Male - Doctor (married, very late 30's/early 40's)

    Bad
Female - student (mid 20's, Spanish)
Male - Tennis coach (divorced, late 30's)
Male - company director (divorced, early 40's)
Male - IT (single, mid 30's)

    On the fence
Female - student (early 20's, Italian)

To be fair all of them presented and came across very well but I really do believe you don't know someone until you live with them. What they find normal you may not (guy liked playing a recorder in the early hours to "relax" - No bud, I'm trying to effing sleep here).

I believe we're all weird, we've all got weird little things we do, we just need to find the compatible kind of weird that fits with our weird.

We've also heard of many horror stories from prospective tenants about their past experiences with housemates.

It isn't just housemates... My current was telling me about a previous LL - Wanted her to fill in a questionnaire about BDSM and "stuff". Definitely not the sort of thing to ask of a vulnerable young lady or anyone else for that matter.
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

We thought about that too- but our best lodgers were a mix of poor or comfortable. When we were lodgers, we were very poor & didn't behave like this.

How many of yours were male/female?

I'll check.. of the bad ones:
    A male, 27
    B male, 26
    C female, 32
    D female, 22
    E male, 19
    F male, 37
    G female, 43 (looks 25!)

    Good ones:
    H female, 26
    I female, 24
    J female, 25

No one's saying it's only housemates- I've had my fair share of dodgy landlords as a lodger / tenant myself over the years. It seems to be hard to find decent people in general !

I had the same experience- we should all tally our data to try and find a pattern in good vs bad types!

    Mine were:

    Good
Female - Unemployed chiropractor (mid 20's, spanish)
Female - Student in business (early 20s, polish)
Female - Artist (mid 20s, english)
Female - IT (mid 20s, italian)

    On the Fence
Male - IT (late 20s, chinese)

    Bad
Female - Actress (late 20s, eastern european)
Male - History teacher (late 20s, american)
Male - Student creative (early 20s, english)
Female - Tattoo artist (mid 20s, portugese)
Female - Unemployed creative (early 40s, chinese)
Male - Artist (late 30s, spanish)
Male - Office job (late 20s, french)

I'll update if I've forgotten any!

Good God! That's not right at all. I mean I've got a toy bag but it's kept in my room and my personal life is just that, my personal life. They're lodgers, not potential play partners!
Although *sighs* I do know the type you're talking about sadly.
