I have just been informed that O2 my service provider, are putting up my monthly contract by the annual rate of inflation. I have 6 months left on my 2 year contract, my question is, do I have the right to cancel because of this. I have had a live chat with them last night and they are saying that I can't, just need some advice. Many thanks.

O2 are correct.
The inflation rise is in their Terms and Conditions.0 -
No doubt the annual deluge of identical questions will appear across all the networks in the coming weeks.0

They will no doubt put the call costs up soonmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I dont think you will get away with that one...

Get away with what? I have 500 minutes a month included, I use about 40 minute tops.
My mobile is mainly used for music, checking the football scores and taking photos. If I need to contact somebody I seek to obtain and relay information and then end the call after competing said objective. Not from a moneysaving point of view, I just dont have any interest in idle chit chat on a telephone.0 -

However, you are free to vote with your feet, unlike on a contract (except a 1-month one).
Having said that, few percent increase is more a wishful excuse for getting out of a contract early than a real reason for being unhappy.0 -
The point is that Pay and Go costs can change at any time by any amount, whereas contracts are limited to one rise per year by RPI.
£10 is always £10, not sure what you are getting at.
And given that I am only paying for the set number of minutes, the charge thereafter per minute is wholly irrelevant.0
