I had to laugh when I got todays "Last chance to get 6.5% Isa" e-mail.
I tried in two different Barclays branches on Friday, both had no "appointments" except for the middle of this week (When I was back at work). I then tried a branch of Abbey National, same story. Considering this is a joke to get you to meet a financial advisor to try and upsell you other products I am not very impressed. (Remember you cant sign up online with them, wonder why?)
When I worked out the difference in Interest I concluded I would happily pay that amount NOT to have to go through a stupid sales meeting with them.
Instead Ive noticed that my own bank (Natwest) are offering a 5.5% Isa that I can sign up for totally online and miss all this b*ll !!!!.0 -
Daft question time, you can make new investments till 5th april. Can you still invest on the 5th or does it have to be before?0

The tax man would say "yes" but I would guess many providers would say "too late", especially as the 5th is a Saturday. You obviously like jumping on the train just as the doors are closing. However hard up you are, never accept loans from your friends. Just gifts0 -
Thanks King Weasel, allways been the same me, think last minute.com took it's name from me.0

To help you find the right ISA for you it might be helpful if you say what you are wanting (e.g. how much money you want to save in the ISA, whether you will be adding to it during the year or it is a lump sum, whether you want to withdraw the money you put in there in the near future, whether you are happy to change to a different ISA this time next year).0 -

I contacted Barclays twice this week and have been told on both occassions they will accept a cheque with the completed applciation and ID up until close of play on Friday. I'm in too minds as I've heard of others being refused.0 -
To answer my own question, you can keep or transfer your existing cash ISA to the best manager for 2007-08 and then open an additional, separate ISA with Barclays that won't allow transfers in for 2008-09.
I just transferred my ISA to LloydsTSB. Surpsingly enough, they did it on the spot. I just turned up and within 20 minutes it was done. In short, 6.5% fixed for transfers over £9,000, no withdrawals for 12 months (or 90 days interest penalty), no charge for transfer out on anniversary.

As for deadlines, they said their cut-off date is Friday.0 -

I applied for the Barclays Haven ISA last week. As I'm a new customer had to make an appointment, but they close at 5pm and I leave work at 6pm, so weekends only available.
Got to see adviser at local branch after waiting in 10min in cue as there is no-one EVER manning the 'help' desk by the door.
See adviser, I wasn't told what ID to bring but by experience I bought passport, driving licence and several utility bills. He only wanted the passport and driving licence. Filled in ISA form, wrote out £3K cheque to myself, he stamped and dated it and said its all done.
Got a letter today (week later) saying my application is void because they have no proof of my address, even though its on my driving licence that they photo copied.
Go back up to branch, stand in cue again as no-one is ever at the help desk by the door. Got ANOTHER appointment to see the SAME adviser again. Fortunately there is a slot this weekend.
Its just a farce. I had ALL the paper work there and the letter suggests its my fault that I didn't give any ID. Now I got to spend MY time solving their problem. Just hope I don't miss this 2007/08 dead line.0
