  • I currently have a natwest current account and wanted to open a cash ISA that I can use as a savings account. I have looked into a natwest cash ISA however they are only offering 1%AER which I understand is quite low.

I would prefer to have a £1 minimum deposit on the account as I will only be saving £1000 per year. I would also like easy access to the money possibly through a card.

Would appreciate any help regarding the best bank to open a cash ISA with as a I am a first time saver.

I'm not aware of any ISA that comes with a cashcard, and the best paying ISAs at the moment require at least £100 deposit.

How about a savings account instead? This yorkshire account pays 1.25% and comes with a cash card.

I got a card when I opened my first ISA with Santander.
  • Hi all,

Am I right in thinking that there isn't any difference between two Cash ISA's?

I believe the nationwide account has the second highest interest rate for amounts between £10k-£20k. But I can't understand why none of the comparison sites are listing the Lloyds account? I do all my banking with Lloyds, and would prefer to have my money in one of their accounts, even if it is 0.2% down on what I'd receive from a First Direct account.

    Thanks
  • I think I've just answered my own question, the Lloyds account is only 1.50% for balances over £20k!

Has the rate in the MSE email been pulled by Newcastle BS? 2.9%?

Does anyone know if they will honour the rate if an application was submitted before they pulled it?

    Yes it's been pulled.

You couldn't apply after it was pulled so they will process any application that was accepted.

I managed to get the deal with Newcastle BS last night, for me & my OH. Just to double check, if a better deal comes along in a year or so, we can transfer out with 120 days loss of interest? It's just that the original MSE details have disappeared since the deal was pulled.
  • OK, thanks for that, I wasn't sure and I didn't know that the allowance has increased for 2014-15 thats good news then.

So I need to do it about 10th March then,

cheers, I will make a note of this date for the new ISA.

Looks like the Virgin 3% fixed rate 5 year ISA has gone, I missed it!

Looks like a similar option is Skipton BS

Surely you read the terms and conditions for yourself on the Newcastle website?? I can't think of a more reliable place to find out the specifics of your ISA.

And the answer to your question is yes.
