Been there, done that, with Lloyds TSB in 2008 - at least it's sorted out now and, hopefully, will go smoothly from now on......0

Indeed Baldur. I'd like to say a big thank you for your help over the last couple of days, it really is appreciated.. I've never transfered my ISA before (as I'm sure you could probably tell!) - it's been with Nationwide since year dot but thought I should consider it...
I'm glad it's all done now and that's the end of the awful visitAn hours pain has given me an extra 2% interest is the way I should now look at it!

She then questioned my partners application as he wasn't there in person. I told her their own offices had said that was ok. She then went again to check with her manager, who confirmed it was ok. The whole process took an hour and I was really fed up by the time I left there.
Just be glad she did not try to sell you some insurance - or something equally useful (and commission generating)!!!!!!0 -

I have been thinking I have about £1000 in the HSBC online bonus saver the rates have gone so low. The reason why I have kept it there is that it is my back up money and just in case I needed it.
Can anyone recommend me a good savings account with easy access via faster payments.0 -
Hi, I'm one of those unlucky people who had money with Kaupthing Edge and has since been transferred to ING Direct. After my bonus rate period with them has ended I'll be looking to move my money on but I was wondering if at any point in the future (if I should close my account with them now) whether I would be classified as a "new customer" again? I technically didn't choose to bank with them in the first place...
As a more general case though: I am one of those people who likes to chase high interest rates but I'm worried that it's going to come back and haunt me when I no longer am eligable for any of the good rates as I will have had an account with most banks in the past, even if I've closed them and been with others for years.
So, my question is whether banks keep a long-lasting track of whether you've been with them before? Thanks!0 -
Apart from the doubt about how interest is calculated for any month you make a withdrawal, the initial deposit must be made by cheque (or transfer from another Ulster bank account) causing a loss of interest while the cheque clears. Also subsequent deposits must be by regular standing order (or transfer from another Ulster bank account).0
