All that excitement about 2.75% interest. Along with others, I rushed to get my Santander esaver yesterday, and stuffed as much as I could into it as I could.

Then went to Lidl’s for a top-up shop. Limes which used to be 17p each last week are now 20p. Pretzels 45p, up from 39p. That’s an above 10% increase, which probably applies to many if not all products they sell. Got home and there’s an apologetic note from the window cleaner, telling me it’s now £35 every 4 weeks rather than £30.

These are just a few examples to remind us that even at 2.75% our cash is rapidly losing buying power 😭

£35! Do you live in a mansion? It's a fiver round here!

Following on from a similar comment from someone else, i would like to see the table specify whether the account offers 'Monthly' interest.
Perhaps also whether they have their own banking facility, ie not just using an account with a major bank.
Also how much you can withdraw per day.
Does it already list if it's App-only? Cos i'm not an Appy person :)

    Thanks!

According to the Santander website the eSaver Limited Edition account is available until 1/11/22 unless it's sold out sooner.

What "final checks" does Santander need to do to open a savings account for a 10+ year current account holder?
That’s what I was thinking when I posted earlier about a possible 3 day wait. I’ve had current account for around the same amount of time and it’s my main account. Seems odd that existing customers appear to have to wait much longer than newbies.

Some existing customers may have to wait for whatever reason.
I have been a customer for longer than I can remember probably since the 1980s with Abbey National. I applied via the app yesterday evening and before I had left it I had received 3 emails from Santander. The first thanking me for applying and saying it may take 3 days to set up the account. The next seconds later saying it was open giving account number. Then the third reminding me of my existing log in details.
  • I signed up yesterday for the Santander account, as I haven't had an account with them before it looks like I've got to wait "5 - 7 days" for new online banking set up details to arrive in the post before I can access the account properly, which is fine, but hopefully the stuff gets here within the next few days.
  • Anyone having trouble getting funds out of Al Rayan? test £1 yesterday hit account then withdrew £19999 and still waiting, santander all set up and ready.

Made a withdrawal 20k yesterday at 4.15pm, received about 15mins later.
One other day took about 5 hours though.

Yea, but by then someone else will be top of the savings list and everyone will be jumping again.
Since Chase appeared on the scene there`s been a constant procession of top easy access saving accounts.
We`ve gone from 1.5%  to (currently, maybe) 2.75%.
It would be interesting to find out if anyone on here has actually moved every time a new top rate came out.
Who holds the record for the most moves?
