Some of us are in the fortunate position of requiring >1 account to accommodate FSCS limits.Bigwheels1111 said:Why list 1.65% with Principality listed when you can get 1.9% Al Ryan.I dont get it ?.
Some of us don't use apps or use them selectively (e.g. not for savings).
Some of us may have had experiences with providers who we may now wish to avoid.
Some of us may have a strong affinity to Wales.
Information is provided. I certainly appreciate people's efforts in this regard. If it's of no interest to me personally I pass on it.15 -
Added into ToTP top Easy Access acs list page 671 this thread. Ta MuchlyBridlington1 said:Principality's Online Double Access Issue 2 account is now paying 1.65% variable for balances of £1-£1,000,000.
Will be showing in the w.e. recast... even though it only just scrapes in.3 -
I agree with @mebu60. Also some people simply don't have £5k to make the minimum deposit for Al Rayan. Also it makes sense to have more than one easy access account in case you have problems with one of your accounts, i.e account getting frozen, bank having a technical meltdown etc.Bigwheels1111 said:Why list 1.65% with Principality listed when you can get 1.9% Al Ryan.I dont get it ?.2 -
I have 3 to cover my funds while I wait for a better fixed rate deal. All pay more.Al Ryan 1.90%Zopa 1.81%Shawbrook 1.75%Plus emergency saving split between 4 banks.I want the best rate I can get.So jump ship for better rate, not lower rates, but thats just me.0

I also want the best rates I can get, but not at the expense of other things that matter to me. I wouldn't save money with any of the three banks you mentioned for various reasons, but that's just me. Each to their own.Bigwheels1111 said:I have 3 to cover my funds while I wait for a better fixed rate deal. All pay more.Al Ryan 1.90%Zopa 1.81%Shawbrook 1.75%Plus emergency saving split between 4 banks.I want the best rate I can get.So jump ship for better rate, not lower rates, but thats just me.0 -
Those banks/accounts suit your needs which is great but (playing devil's advocate) some people may not want to save with a sharia bank (or don't have the minimum required), not be into app-only banking or have been put off Shawbrook after reading about their customer service problems.Bigwheels1111 said:I have 3 to cover my funds while I wait for a better fixed rate deal. All pay more.Al Ryan 1.90%Zopa 1.81%Shawbrook 1.75%Plus emergency saving split between 4 banks.I want the best rate I can get.So jump ship for better rate, not lower rates, but thats just me.
While that Principality rate of 1.65% is obviously not appropriate for you, it's higher than the likes of Chase, Marcus, Atom and Tesco (and a LOT of people on here will have those accounts), they have high-street branches and the last time I needed to phone them (with an ISA query), I got through to a human straight away which is a rarity these days
While there are a lot of rate chasers on here (myself included), we shouldn't forget that there are other factors that might affect decisions on whether to choose a particular account or not.8 -
Indeed which is why it's good to have the long list1

If you just want a list of the top accounts without any discussion, then comparison sites like Money Facts are the best option.km1500 said:Don't suppose there is a chance of having a 'nochat' version of this thread (as well as keeping this one of course)7 -
veryintrigued, how long did it take for your funds to be received into Cynergy, please? Although long time account holder with them, I didn't have a recent payment set up with my sending bank (due to their constant new accounts), so set up a new payment today. Usually, I've found payments go through quite quickly, but nothing's been received yet.veryintrigued said:Cynergy
Can someone reminde.how long funds take to show on these accounts.
Currently waiting for three hours for a slightly less than £10k from Nationwide

It's a shame every time you have to open a new account & transfer your funds over; I'd only just done that with their issue 26, if only they'd just raise the interest rate on all accounts, but I suppose they're trying to attract new money & happy to leave savers in existing accounts languishing.SJMALBA said:Charter Savings Bank EA Issue 27 - 1.75% (5k min.)
