PS I'm waiting to see reaction to what happens with BoE MP com meeting Thursday - another 0.25% 'widely expected'.

Gatehouse Bank tell me they are about to offer 1.3% Expected Profit on their Easy Access ac.

No application process is yet shown on their home web pages as best I can find without logging in is 'currently under review'... but there is an application 'button' when logged in, so appears available to existing customers with on line access.

ETA They expect application to be sorted overnight - will be available to all.

as an existing user, are Gatehouse any good as a savings provider?

they have FSCS protection and the 2nd best rate. I would call that good.
there was a time when those conditions applied to Virgin Money... but no amount of recommendation from Martin or anyone else here would make me use them again. :/
I asked cos I associate Gatehouse more with notice and fixed accounts - I can't recall them offering easy access before (or at least not mentioned in the BB tables) and so was interested in how quick I can get the money in and, more importantly, out. :)

I'm honestly baffled by some of the highly negative things I've seen written about Virgin Money around here - for me their app is very very good (it's one of few that has an iPad optimised version), they answered the phone quickly on the one occasion I had cause to call them, and I've never had any serious issues. I've used most of the online banking services available in the UK and I'd definitely put Virgin near the top of a ranking.

It seems that whichever brand you select, you'll be able to find at least a handful of people who've had a dreadful experience.

I've had their EA ac for years - but it was a 'keep a foot in the door' adjunct to their matured FTBs. It was 0.55(Jan'22) so wasn't on most people's radar.

I don't know what your experience with VM is/was, but my own has been superb. I still have more than £20K with them in 2% accounts, I was happily using their 1% savings accounts until Chase came along, and I have over the years had numerous Regular Savers with them. In fact, I still have half a dozen of those now. Everything's working like clockwork, so I am more than happy with them, and more than happy to recommend them as and if they are offering the best rates (which obviously they don't really right now for new instant access accounts).

You asked whether they are any good, and as above, I think they are. How quickly they process deposits and withdrawals, I don't know, and I won't find out unless they have a chart topping account.

Avoid confusion: What bank/account are you talking about?

sorry. Chase easy access. Says 1.3. If you go down the app route, is it 1.5 then?
