hi,
any experiences with AA internet saver customer service? I've read about some downtime on the website. What are they like when you phone up?
I'm looking for a savings a/c with a decent interest rate, but customer service is also important to me. I have excluded the following already
Tesco - poor customer service
B&B - keep on introducing new accounts, and dropping rates on old ones, something I'm fed up with
West Brom BS - rubbish customer service
Northern Rock - rates dropped too far
YBS looks like another good candidate.
cheers,

Bank of scotland fixed @5.8% was one I recently got, interest payable monthly compared to all others I have tried it was fastest although initial application form is a bit difficult. It is tied up with Halifax online which when I received email I thought it was suspicious till confirmed with phone call it's all the same company.Advantage is --you can visit local branch of Halifax with your id docs and also pay cheque into your acct which shows next day.Must say every way I was impressed with the service and helpful attitude of staff spoken to.0

When I opened an Egg esaver account last month I am sure that the Egg website was still advertising the account as giving 6.3% interest fixed for 12 months. However on checking the rate now quoted for accounts opened at that time the interest rate is given as 5% variable. Has anyone already contacted Egg about this?0

Hi
Can anyone recommend a good savings account for me please Im a bit baffled by all this to be honest!!
I have £17000 id like to save, I want to put it in an account that wont have penalties if i want to withdraw it all of a sudden, but i wont want to make small withdrawels here and there on it.
I dont want to be chopping and changing it about when interest rates change if possible as dont have the time.
I thought about natwest esaver? Any opinion gratefully received.
Thanks in advance

This page states that new internet savers opened between 8 May and 10 October earn 6.3% fixed for 12 months.
Presumably you looked on the page that comes up once you've logged into your account and pressed the "historical rates" link. On that page, you need to scroll down to "Egg Savings Account (standard) interest rates". In the paragraph immediately above that heading, it states "Accounts opened with new money to Egg from 8 May 2008 to 10 October 2008 receive an introductory offer rate of 6.30% gross pa/AER fixed for the first 12 months from the date the account is opened (paid annually). The standard variable rate for the account is currently 3.25% gross pa/AER"0 -
Thanks for your reply. The account was opened at the end of October 2008. According to EGG customer support the account is earning only 4.5% AER. However at the time the account was opened EGG was advertising the interest rate on its web site at 6.3% fixed for 12 months. I will therefore be withdrawing the money and will complain to the Finacial Services Ombudsman about their alleged misselling.
I would be interested to hear of any other similar experiences with EGG.0 -

The fixed rate was removed from the website at the latest by 13th October, according to this post - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=14942845&postcount=140 -
