Note, that there is a day's delay when withdrawing money (before 2pm !). It won't be in the receipients account unti the next day.

I'm trying to decide between Cyprus and Paragon if they are both offering 1.31% now. Other than needing to switch away from Cyprus after a year, is there any reason to pick one over the other?

I saw that Paragon's T&Cs say that withdrawing money takes at least a day. Does that mean that you lose a day or two of interest?
"We!!!8217;ll transfer money to your Nominated Account by the end of the next Business Day as along as we receive your request before 2pm on a Business Day !!!8211; if not; the transfer will be done on the next Business Day"
BoCyprus UK... deposits & w/ds via one linked ac... and you need a mobile to operate the ac, so if you've not got reception ...?

Otherwise ..great, I have used them off & on for years when they top the tables.

Just had a look at BoC and they require you to send them either an original driving licence or passport (or a certified copy). Paragon say they do electronic checks.

I think there is .01% difference in interest rates, but less hassle for a piffling amount!

I would not touch either BoC or Paragon. Terrible online and customer service experiences with both.

Hmmm! Quite the opposite experience with Paragon here.

Not too sure about their lending tactics, though.

To be honest, I've yet to actually access my Paragon account. It has been such a pain to open and set up and the customer support has been useless until the complaints team got involved. 3+ weeks and counting...

Bank of Cyprus on the other hand is to be avoided like the plague. Account opening was quick but every one of my transfers in have been held for reasons not explained other than "random" scrutiny of incoming transfers. If that wasn't bad enough they didn't even bother to notify me that they were holding my money, the money just never appeared and it was only me phoning them several days later that uncovered this. They have a customer support messaging service which appears to be unmanned - 5 days on and no response. Moral of the story is that if you do want to try your luck with Bank of Cyprus make sure you verify that every deposit you make with them actually makes it into your account. If they have held onto one of them they'll never actually tell you.

My experience with Paragon has been excellent. Opened a 1 year fix 12/09/17 fully funded by 13/09/17. Opened their easy access saver yesterday, showing online this morning, will fund it after lunch

Another Paragon happy customer - been with them a few months...no problems at all.

I actually find their website pretty good actually.

My customer service experience with Paragon has improved in the last week now my account is finally open and accessible (4 weeks) but I am very disappointed to discover that they only do BACS and batched faster payments not realtime faster payments like many others. So my Friday transfer into my Paragon account has still not arrived 3 days later. My current savings bank, Ulster, would have processed that payment in seconds.

I really wish MSE would indicate in its savings company info what payment policies and systems these companies use.
