    never heard of this one i looked at their website their interest rates are not that good, is the money definitely covered by the financial protection scheme should they go under?
    Yes, as confirmed on pages of their website that you presumably didn't get to, such as http://www.icicibank.co.uk/personal/about-us.page? and http://www.icicibank.co.uk/managed-assets/docs/FSCS/coverage-information-2015.pdf

    They are based in a part of manchester that i know very well i would be wary of a small bank like this everyone
    What are you trying to imply from the location of their Manchester branch? Did you read about the $130bn assets of the parent company?

    No, I don't think this is possible. It is a requirement of the offer that you do a full switch using CASS, which means the old account is closed. No full switch=no incentive paid.

    Its a no go, CASS - Current account Switch Service is used and then the incentive is paid, if CASS isn't used then no incentive. As part of CASS procedure is closure of the account you are switching from, so it cant be avoided if you are using CASS>

    Has anyone successfully received the 150gbp reward from Co-op bank when they switched without closing the old account?
    No, but many will have received it by switching a sacrificial donor account, rather than switching, and thereby closing, a 'main' account....
  • Thanks folks, the terms of the offer were quite clear
    3.2 switch your main current account to your new current account using the full Current Account Switch Service, which will include the closure
    of your old account on the day that your switch completes;

    but then I read more on their site about switching, so wanted to be 100% sure:

    http://www.co-operativebank.co.uk/currentaccounts/switch-to-us
    You can keep your old account open, but you won't be covered by the guarantee

    You can choose to keep your old account open if you want. However, the Switch Guarantee will then be void.

    If you keep your old account open, we will not cover the costs associated with missed payments.

    Setting up a sacrificial donor seems to be the way to go.

    "3.2 switch your main current account to ... ".

    So the term "main current account" is "quite clear"?

    I'd guess that a lot of MSEers have turned a blind eye to that requirement.
