Hello Folks, I've just been having a chat regarding 123 account , I've just sold my flat so needed to look into this as I had standard Santander acc. They informed me be a good idea to switch... Yes true I had to have £500 deposited into it, now I have my business acc with them also , this actually counts as external account. So pleased with this... So for the time being , I can pay D debit into 123 account say on 1st of month and use stand order SO to transfer back to my bus acc if I so choose say on 5th ... Always keeping my new 123 over £20'000 to get max return.... Now here is the better news ... You are allowed 2 123 accounts .... Using the same £500 you do the same deal in and out ... Just remembering to show the return £500 onto bus acc. Does not get shown as income yet a quid/ pro sort of deal in your tax return . In selling my flat I now do not have utilities bills as yet so no direct debits as such. But remembered one off payment to CPP. Does count and also paypal also counts ....nice touch.. Now having to create the potential second account .. I have magazine and Carclub subscribe ion I normally pay over the phone well make both annual direct debit sorted this problem out.... So nice little touch... I also had a nation wide book left in draw not used it since 98'. Walked into branch they changed my details and said well welcome back ... You know your entitled to switch to loyal customer over 15 years ... Even thou I had not used the bank... This gave me. From 0.1 %. Now upto 1.7 % To this level 4 saving account 1.36% net Seems quite a good deal to stick my excess. Funds into for the time being with no extras like having to make deposits and restrictions of any kinds ... Just joined this forum so still looking at ideas0

Not sure what the point of your post is?0 -
Well I presumed this was a discussion board .... I saw people discussing 123 accounts and ways of having to make the £500 payment in... No body mentioned that you can have the option of having 2 123 accounts ... So I put my 10 pence worth in ... May be I'm wrong but I'm new to making any investments until now ... But discussion is discussion ... So there's my point .... !0

Ah right I see. If you had looked back over the previous posts you would have found mention of the fact that it is well known that you can have two 123 accounts.0 -

Regarding the two DD's on the 123 account. Do you know if they have to actually pay once a month to qualify for interest on the account or do they simply have to be showing on the account?
My reason for asking is that on another forum I have discovered that if you have a TalkTalk account, which I do, and it is one of the 123 DD mandates, that TalkTalk will somehow will refund 15% of the monthly bill if you logon to your account with them and settle it within 24 hours of receiving your monthy email/statement.

123 DDs don't need to pay at all, but non-paying DDs might get automatically deleted after 13 months (industry-wide practice). Also, not having qualifying/paying DDs obviously reduces your monthly cashback potential.0

Oh yes I forgot about dds cancelling after so long. Thanks anyway for the info.0 -
Just a quick heads up to anyone running Santander 123 accounts circulating the £500 monthly deposit. This month my standing orders from the Santander accounts have not worked. The date on the standing orders has rolled over to February but the January payments did not occur.
I have sent a stroppy message to Santander asking for an explanation.
It may be worth checking your own standing orders.0 -
Tesco Internet Saver (instant access) is currently paying .75% , but added to that is a year's bonus of a further .75% (1.50% total !).
My bonus has expired however, I just called them, and they have let me close the existing account and open a new account with the bonus!
How am I going to spend my new found fortune?!!!!Thank you for reading this message.0
