    Intriguing they've done this now after taking so long over what was pretty much a cut and dried issue - maybe they've (deservedly) received a lot of flak and seen a substantial removal of funds.

    Most of my money is out and won't be going back. 
    I just withdrew another chunk then noticed the 4.8% too. No communication!

    shawbrook update rates consistently and message you to tell you that it has been applied automatically.
    Until they don't. Then you send a secure message and they upgrade the account to the new issue. 

    They didn't upgrade Issue 33 automatically.   I messaged them yesterday and have had confirmation today that it's been upgraded to Issue 36.    Just need to move some (at least £1000) money in now!!  ;)

    Applied to Santander account 17/08, they requested ID 20/08 which I took into the branch on 21/08. Received an email on 22/08 to state my debit card had been sent out. As of 30/08 I'm still waiting to receive this.

    Cahoot took over 2 weeks after opening the account to print my login letters before posting them..

    I've had a very straightforward experience opening the Cahoot Simple Saver.  Applied online, account opened right away and a/c number and sort code provided (suppose I could have funded, but in no hurry).  Had to wait for 2 security letters to allow online access, both arrived within 6 working days and then online.  I've been a Santander client for many years so perhaps that made the Cahoot (owned by Santander) experience easier?  Anyway, easy.

    As for Charter Savings, I gave up on them when the misleading announcement was made and the constant re-opening of issues, deeply unimpressed.  My current older issue is still stuck at 3.9% I think, though I shifted a load of money out and to Cahoot anyway.
  • I applied last Tuesday for the Cahoot Simple Saver and got both letters yesterday.
    To register online you only need the personal ID number that was on your email with the bank details and letter 2. Letter 1 has the same ID number on plus telephone banking code, which isn't required for registering online.

    Re: Cahoot - similar experience here, opened quickly with details to deposit (via Bank Transfer/FPS) voa email straight away. Letters arrived about a week later with details to log in and therefore transfer out.

    I always feel the need to have some savings which can be moved to my current account even at 8pm on a bank holiday or Sunday night, eg I want to spend a large amount (book holiday or something?) on debit card or have large DD coming out Monday morning. Rather than keep big balance "just in case" in current account, having it in a competitive savings account is useful and if it can be transferred at zero notice to current account you get the best of both worlds. Zopa was good for this but rates fell a long way behind.

    I tried transfers to and from Cahoot on both Sunday evening and bank holiday Monday evening and both were instant. My current account is with Santander so that may make a difference, but for me this is exactly what I want in an instant access account and worth at least 0.1% in interest rate to have this convenience vs something that needs to be withdrawn before lunchtime or takes a day to arrive in current account.

    Lack of an app might be a downside to some, and it's a bit more clunky to log in on a mobile with webpage and 2FA, but I'm happy with it and the rate.

    Regarding Cahoot. It took 7 days from for the online banking details to arrive from Cahoot by post so that I could actually operate my new 4.9% Instant Access Saver. In that time Oxbury Bank made their 4.94% Personal Easy Access account available. Application/acceptance was instant and account operation via the Oxbury app immediate.

    Oxbury got my money instead of Cahoot.

    The moral? - 7 days is an age in these days of fast moving rate increases

    Another moral, if you have to jump through hoops to open an account --------------- don`t.
