I occasionally encounter a discrepancy in my address and I think it's because RM don't include the county in my 'official' address and I live right on the border. I'm just going out on foot to a town just under a mile away and will start my journey by crossing the road - over those 20 feet I will go into another county. So some databases use the county I actually live in, some see that nearest town name in the address and put me in that county.0

I am transferring a maturing bond with Charter Bank into an existing Easy Access issue 28 account, I have asked what interest would be applied expecting 4.8% since it’s an no longer available account, but they say 4.27% is this correct? Their current EA acc pays 4.5%Thank you.0

It's other organisation's inability to manage that data, and/or impose rules on the data that do not apply at the source, that is the issue. This may explain why some people have so many problems with electronic address verification. You can check the National Address Gazetteer here: https://www.geoplace.co.uk/addresses-streets/address-data-and-services/findmyaddress As far as I can see, it is accurate. But I still find some banks and other organisations using the wrong address - even the UK Census in 2021 got our address wrong. I put it down. to banks using an out of date version of the RM Address Database. There can also be problems with organisations using foreign software which requires street names (not always required in the UK) and counties (never required in UK postal addresses).

Our neighbours named their house over 20 years ago but a postcode search lists them twice, once with a house name and once with a house number. Also, our district council has an extra line in our address. We live in a village fed by a narrow country road and the council have a name for road that no-one else knows or uses, not even Royal Mail! The village is 200 years old and that road name does not appear on any historic maps that we have seen. The letters get here regardless but I can see how computer systems might get confused.

The list of lagging accounts deserves a news article of its own. How about Coventry - their 4 access NLA at 4.8% is behind the best instants and prob wont change until the next BoE in 4 weeks - their current 6 access is only 4.45%3
