Unable to open Tandem account for my wife as it won’t let her link our joint Santander current account…keeps telling her she has to connect an account in her name and to try another account I imagine the problem is at Santander’s end but can’t be bothered trying to go through the hoops with them to resolve it.

That should be very easy to solve. She can open a sole Santander Everyday account in seconds.

She doesn’t want a sole account and no other bank has ever failed to link our joint account so we’ll pass. I expect one of our existing accounts will approach their rate in the next few days anyway…

Just saw this morning that Shawbrook have proposed a merger with Co-op bank. It's probably many months away from affecting their savings in any way but just potentially interesting.
My friend worked at co-op bank last year

He said the whole place is an absolute joke and he would certainly never bank with them knowing what he knows now

as a Shawbrook customer myself I hate the sound of this!

I have been using Shawbrook for a few years now. I have always got on fine with them. For some reason reading this, makes me feel a lot less confident, all of a sudden.

Mine came through right away, I must have been lucky.
I seem to have been accepted, though it forced me to choose unemployed as there was no option for non-employed.
I'm at the linking account stage but I'm nervous, is this the open banking part? Maybe I should use a different current account from my main one?

    Yes it’s the OB section.

Is Santander ever planning to increase rate from 3.69% on that ESaver Special Edition? Special because it's stuck in time?
Sort of, in that they've craftily resurrected their Cahoot brand offering 4.60%, so that they're in the market without having to increase the rate for their Santander customers..... yet.

BTW The rate for the Special Saver v1 is 3.75% I believe.

Have you got the Cahoot account? I've been using the Esaver 3.75% as a staging post to my 123 account monthly, but if it's instant (being a Santander brand) I may open it

Is Tandem FSCS protected? Searched for Tandem on the FSCS website and several variations come up, some are not covered.
