Has anyone else found the Newcastle BS website/log in to be buggy this afternoon? Couldn't log on several times.

Edit: Seems to have been resolved now.

Not sure why it took so long to arrive, but got an email from Newcastle BS:

"Setting up a nominated account for withdrawals

As part of your application you will have selected your nominated account for withdrawals. Before you can withdraw from your account you’ll need to authenticate the details.

To do this you’ll receive a separate letter containing a Secure Customer Authentication (SCA) pin. This normally arrives a few days after your welcome pack. Once received, follow the instructions in the letter and you’ll be fully set up to use the account.

You won’t be able to withdraw funds from your online account until you have completed this step. "

This makes it clear that you need to wait for the code, although it would've been more handy for new customers (not myself) if it was included in the original email.
Some providers make it clear in their T&C that after opening a new account you can`t make any withdrawals within a certain period.
It seems NBS are doing the same by the back door, by not sending out codes or in fact having an authentication code process.
Not sure what you mean by this - there have been reports of people receiving their codes on this thread (I think) today.
Correct, but they opened their accounts last Wednesday.
Most providers let you access your account for withdrawals immediately.

    Just logged in now OK.

    Also just received an email

Getting started with your Newcastle Base Rate Tracker (Issue 1)

    Your welcome pack

If you are a new customer you will receive a letter welcoming you to Newcastle Building Society within 5 working days of your application.

I`ve already received two "welcome letters" and now expect to get my code tomorrow judging by what others have posted today.

I received the same today. I think the reason for everything taking so long is unpreparedness to handle unusual amount of applications.  We've seen this with some other local BSs who suddenly offered a very competitive product nationwide.

I'm monitoring the timing of deposits. Today's deposit took 4 hour to arrive, not the speed I would've liked, but weekends are OK, so it's not like Mon-Fri Al Rayan.

I got slightly excited when I got 2 similar emails from Coventry today, thinking there was another (2nd) increase! But then I realised that we were informed of these rises already, here on this forum & topic, back on 29th June (would you believe as far back as page 1445!). The poster put links to Coventry's webpages for anyone to read ..... so, no double increase, just Coventry making good opportunities for advertising via email!

It's a account rate change notification thats sent out just like any other provider, hardly advertising. Do you expect every customer to read MSE & their website every day?
