if you mean the Chip Instant Access Account then there are no charges.

Nope, in and out is instant, just make sure you go through all the settings after opening to turn off all the auto-savings / auto-transfer stuff if not needed.

Why is Chip asking to connect to a debit card? I've had other banks link to another account so provided current account and sort code. I just do online banking with this account so I wonder where the debit card is..

It uses the debit card to link to your bank account rather than the sort code and account number, but the end result is the same.

Chip uses 'open banking' and uses the debit card only to set it up. Later you can make deposits from the linked account by a debit card (slow) or by faster payments (fast) or via open banking (pull from Chip). Withdrawals - only open baking, I think.

So i have £4k in santanda edge at 4% if that doesnt go up soon it will get moved to chip!!!

I used a debit card to setup Chip, so can't comment if you can use a sort code/account number to do this. As grumbler said, once setup you can use OB to pull money from the linked account or setup Chip as a payee in your bank account.

When I set up Chip, I did not use a debit card.

I went into the account and went with open banking like Tandem.

But there is an option to make payments with sort code etc in there.
