I'm referring to the A&L, Egg and AA accounts at 2.8% interest.
As with many other providers is is important to keep an eye on the changing interest rates and change when your rate decreases. I have been able to do an internal change about once a year with A&L without a problems as it only takes a few days. I also like Egg and especially its money manager as you can check all your banks balances on one page from any provider with just one username and password0 -
Thanks for all the help guys. Yeah I've heard that A&L had a bad reputation, I guess they are trying to attract customers with the 0.01% extra interest.
I guess I will go with AA or Egg then, I'll have to look at some reviews.0 -
Hi guys. I have to find a home for 35K. This is what is left of my inheritance afetr a bit of share purchasing. I am a 40% tax payer so thought about putting in wife's name but she is in receipt of DLA and incapacity benefit so not sure if she has the 6k (?) savings limit before benefits are effected. I can ask that on the other board tho. Assuming she is ok what is the best home. We are looking at moving next spring/summer (marketting ours early spring) so really could do with instant access or at least a low penalty early withdrawal?
IF wife has the 6k limit I am thinking of premium bonds as average payout 1.5% tax free which would = a good pre tax rate with the chance of more retyrn, and the excitement factor I guess. It is only for 1 year so not losing too much interest really. Thoughts please, cheers.0 -
Hi
My husband is going away soon for six months in the sun & sand!! We are hoping to save up to £1000 a month but unsure where to put it!
We are thinking about two ISAs and if so i need him to open one soon before he leaves so that I can then access it online to pay in whilst hes away. I can then open one in my name at a later date.
Is this the best option??0 -

If you're both taxpayers and are planning on this being a short-term thing with a maximum save of £10,200 before next April 5th, then yes, this sounds like it'll probably be your best savings bet.0 -

You can make faster into the account, however outgoing payments go via BACS.
