I opened mine in December last year so don't remember the details, but remember it was very quick and easy.

It does have a 12 month bonus, they say that (like Marcus) they allow you to renew the bonus if available at the time.

I agree. I have been known in the past to chase rates and open new accounts, or re-fund old ones still open when there is an increase in rates. But have now got fed up with it. Did use chip but don't really like them. To be honest too many problems transferring money. Tried YBS and Coventry BS but their systems are archaic. Have settled with Investec Online Easy Access. Not the top payer but usually not far off, speedy (almost instant) transfers, excellent online platform and good customer service. Now intend to stick with Investec, the interest rate is important but it is not the be all and end all of depositing funds.

I waited 2-3 weeks when Chip dropped from the top of table, but when CovBs came in with 4% I moved as I had accounts with them, so the only admin was moving money about. 
For 0.2%, the admin is now not worth the headache when applying for new accounts, but hopefully between Cov and Chip, I can get the most competitive rates.

I get the feeling there's going to be a lot of movement over the next few days, so unlike usual I'm going to let the dust settle a bit before shuffling the accounts once more.

I knew Coventry was a bad idea and still did it anyway... Moving money is starting to get annoying now as it keeps getting held up for hours by anti fraud checks from my current account. 

Looks like Chip moved too early. Tandem is their main like for like competition now, they probably should have waited for them to make a move first.

Same here - I have a collection of accounts. Some only allow a limited balance and are full. One is a true instant access account (i.e. immediate faster payments) which has some money in it for emergencies. One has a better rate but transfers take 24hrs, this has the rest of my instant access cash. Then I have a collection of old accounts which aren't competitive, but may be again, all with £1 balances.

I'll happily move my money between my existing accounts to maximise returns, but I'm not going to add any more to my collection until I can achieve at least an extra 0.3%.
