I've ended up with 5 YBS EA accounts, 4 of which contain minimal balances. I rarely close savings accounts with £1 minimum balances just in case they raise the interest rate.pecunianonolet said:You also never know if any loyalty products ill come round in the future. I closed my YBS Rainy Day account the other day and before I did I opened another easy access account and put £1 in so I remain customer and in ca 6 monts time I have access to loyalty products, if they are suitable for me. Leaving £1 somewhere doesn't hurt at all and is kind of a statement as well.
Having said that I too have now closed my YBS rainy day account unlocking £33.01 in interest with the money winging it's way to Chip at 3.4% via Lloyds. The reason being that I could (and have) open a new version of the YBS rainy day account to reset the withdrawal counter (and give me an excuse to make an initial deposit of £1.01 for the Natwest round ups).1 -
My Kent Reliance easy access accounts are at the minimum balance, and they are not showing the withdrawal and transfer option. Is this right please? I think I remember seeing something somewhere on a thread about it, but I cannot find it to check. I called them and the guy said it could be why, but he wasn't actually sure, so he has asked the IT team to look into it, but he cannot give a timescale for how long it may take. Thank you
(They were not at the minimum balance yesterday, and the option was showing)

I've just checked mine and I can't see the withdrawal option either despite having been able to make a withdrawal previously. I suspect it will be because you can't withdraw funds to below the minimum balance without closing the account so there's little point in including the option.ForumUser7 said:My Kent Reliance easy access accounts are at the minimum balance, and they are not showing the withdrawal and transfer option. I got £59.99 in interest and wanted to secure that for this tax year, although I am now over the PSA limit and shifted it into the Virgin ISA.Bridlington1 said:

People can be forgiven for not realising what FBS stands for.Band7 said:
You can open a Skipton and/or FBS for that purpose in your name.Winchmore_Hill_Shot said:
Because of the Halifax reward scheme. It would be a useful dump for the £500 I need to spend on my DC every month.Band7 said:
don’t know the answer - though why would she not use her own debit card(s), and why wouldn’t you have your own savings account?Winchmore_Hill_Shot said:I'm showing my ignorance here, but does anyone know whather the Family Account will accept debit card transactions from someone other than the account holder. So would my wife be able to open an account and fund it using one of my Halifax debit cards.
It's the tiny one-branch Family Building Society that I think will soon be swamped with funds after launching its (no faff) market leading instant access account. I opened one in the early hours of this morning but have yet to fund it. Does anyone know the cut-off time for qualifying for interest this weekend please?
Oh, and the same question for Chip.0 -
Don't know about FBS, but AFAIK there is no cut-off time for Chip (i.e. deposits you make before midnight should earn you interest for that day, incl. weekends).nottsphil said:

In that case you would get interest on both accounts for the day if you left the transfer of funds from Santander until after 8:20 p.m. This will show the withdrawal as being made on the following day. Santander can have major issues with your first deposit into Chip so I would do it through another bank's current account if you have one.allegro120 said:

Yes, minimum balance is £1.00 or you close it.Bridlington1 said:

Re use of FBS as abreviation.
Will now have to specify Furness or Family BS instead of FBS on this thread to avoid confusion.
I have used Family a number of times. No problems and telephone help very good

Which interest-bearing Santander account can you perform this trick with?nottsphil said:
