On 16th October 2018 my girlfriend's car was parked in the car park of a "Sainsburys Local" in Greenwich for 13 minutes. Inadvertently a parking ticket was not purchased. At other "Sainsburys Local" no parking fees are required, so it was a case of ignorance and lack of attention.
Having read on here and other websites it was decided to ignore CEL's threatening letters. CEL are now, of course, sending letters that are more and more aggressive there is concern about the situation. CEL are now requesting £140 ("£100 plus additional costs").
Should some other action be taken? If other action, what action?
Thank you for any advice.

Not had great dealings with these. Make sure you keep on top of chasing any emails or letters.
Wishing you luck0 -

Small world! Exact car park one was received for on tithe car I’m registered keeper for recently.. if you see my other posts there’s photos of the poor signage if this will help you at all.
Absolute disgrace of a company and car park0 -
First advice in the NEWBIES - send polite email to Sainsburys CEO asking him to cancel.
Explain how you are a regular customer of Sainsburys and how you have been caught out by the poor signage.

Pretty frustrating that you followed advice from 'other forums' who are not parking law specialists. Didn't come here or to pepipoo? We/they are the specialist forums to beat private parking cases with appeals or defences.
This could have been won in days at POPLA, without breaking into a sweat.
Now you will have to beat them in court - easy enough but a lot more sweat for you!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you all for your responses. Does it make much difference that we didn't buy a parking ticket at all? I've searched but couldn't find any similar posts. This was a genuine mistake; we were visiting a sick cousin in the Greenwich area; where we live the Sainsburys and Sainsburys Local don't require parking (I know this isn't a defence). Didn't even enter my head that we had to pay (sighs).0

I agree - it's frustrating! I simply googled it, saw some stuff that said "Ignore" and a video of an expert suggesting they weren't worth the paper they're written on. 'scuse the contradiction in terms, but a case of genuine fake news!!??!?0

No, that video was from 2011

EDIT YOUR POST
You will have read over and over that the Drivers identity must NOT BE KNOWN to the parking company

Thank you nosferatu1001. I can't see where I've mentioned who was driving, only that it's my girlfriend's car and she wasn't driving?
I've edited now. Thanks ;o)0
