Well I have made a miserable start so far, have stress shopped buying lots of fatty treats, sugary treats and just mountains of food as it makes me and boys happy. In a difficult month with half term looming I spent last Thursday when no cover work was available looking at cars. Swopped my purchase around and saved £300 on a similar car, so am happy with that.
Went grocery shopping at Tesco w uniboy and bought him a few everyday treats to take home, while collecting points for his train card (£10 worth of vouchers} and buy all fuel at tesco anyways.
So save some loose some. And made a smashing 2 day dinner off a free range Aldi chicken, so not too bad considering both boys does lots of sport and eats like hungry wolves.
Will revert to £60 a week on grocery shopping for two from later this week. Is that a log of money? I can't seem to get it down further, as buy lots of fresh fruit and vege to keep healthy and fattening gcse boy up and me trying to loose a bit of weight?
PS and am paying neighbour back for loan of car by cleaning it, topping up air, windscreen wash, air and making sure it goes back with a full tank. People are gold.

Morning All.
Just sitting down for a quick break and catch up. Half-term next week and I'm determined to get the house in order first (before it gets trashed again!).
Today so far:
Dishwasher emptied, not full yet.
Washing on quickwash, out on airer (sunny at the moment, but rain is forecast so I'm not risking it).
Bathroom/loo/kitchen/utility cleaned with stardrops/zoflora and all floors mopped.
Hallway decluttered, pile of unworn shoes sorted and put away for DS3, and a new home found for wellies. :j
Windows opened to air rooms (where it's budgie-safe! I keep forgetting about him - his cage door is always open as he's used to flying around mum's house.)
To do:
Clean front room - still hanging around from last week!
Do next!
Leftover soup for lunch
Sort DS clothes drawers for outgrown stuff for CS/hand-me-downs
Put mountainous pile of clean washing away in newly cleared drawers!
Find something for dinner
Walk for school run if its dry, to save petrol :money:
Pop to shop on the way for a small DS birthday present I forgot to buy
Wrap DS present for actual birthday tomorrow
Update mega-money-matrix and put online banking into various 'pots'
Check childcare between DS and I for half-term - we are both part-time and I don't *think* I need to take a day off.
Set up a plan of free/cheap things to amuse said DS x 3 (maybe investigate new NT properties we haven't tried yet, but would mean longer travel)
Phew! Best get on then - I've told myself I can't eat lunch until the front room is done!0 -

I sometimes get this. I think it's because your heart rate is up and if you feel a bit anxious anyway. Then your brain mis-interprets it as a panic, then makes you panic to match IYSWIM.
I had a full blown panic attack mid-workout once and just sat in the reception sobbing :eek:LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

Very unlikely to be - most heating things aren't. There should be a sticker/printed bit on it somewhere with the wattage. I remember the one we had was 2000W (2kW) which is about the same as a strong hairdryer or fan fire (i.e. uses a lot of energy!)LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

It's not bad
We spend between £30 and £45 a week for 2, plus 1-2 veg boxes a month at £14.35 each. I also keep some money aside for non-food bits that I pick up from B&M
My main ways of keeping costs down are:- Weigh out portions (good for weight loss and making food go further)
- Use lots of frozen fruit/veg (peppers and berries are v.good) and in-season veg
- Meal plan and prep food in advance if possible
- Cook from scratch if you can. eg potato wedges - you can make these very cheaply but they are about £2.50 for a 4 portion bag!
- Smaller meals and larger snacks (typical cal breakdown for me would be 500 cal brekkie/lunch dinner and 2 x 250 cal snacks)
- Good solid brekkie of eggs or porridge as it's more saiting than cereal
- Quorn week - Asda have 4 bags of Quorn for £6 and this will do us for a week's protein
- Make our bread
- Food shop doesn't include treats - these come out of our personal spends

With a fuzzy eater young man who needs energy, focus and about 3000 cal a day, it's hard to be measuring out portion sizes as I want him to eat as much as possible!
I do measure out meat servings etc and we have veggie /bacon pasta bakes, veggie burgers, crepes etc to eat cheap filling and fun meals.
The £ 60 includes everything from tooth paste, snacks and one school lunch a week. I always bring lunch. :money:Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Clf, Thanks I am feeling better then I was and yes what you said made sense, thank you. (and I am glad I managed to get to the car before the sobbing started!!
Thanks again! I think I'll clean it up and give it to the charity shop.carrielovesfanta wrote: »Very unlikely to be - most heating things aren't. My day hasn't gone at all as planned as my dad came to have a proper look at the sofa and was working out how best to recover it extra and as usual it took on a life of its own!! so my sitting room currently has cushions on with all the covers either on the line drying or in the washing machine, extra cushions that we are needing for padding - the arms of the sofa and chairs are wet with upholstery cleaner, fleece blankets that we had temporarily covered the sofa with all over..... I said I wasn't doing anything with it til after half term!! ah well there's always tomorrow to try and get straightened up! :rotfl:Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hope everyone has had a good day. Ours went quite well; both boys fell asleep on the way this morning, so I sat in the carpark while they snoozed, feeling smug with my prepared coffee
I drove at 60 most of the way as we were in no rush and I think I remember reading it saves on fuel? Didn't spend a single thing while we were there as there was nowhere to leave the money for the kiddie's crafts (tbh I didn't look too hard as it was chaos and no one was checking!) Got a few nice photos but it was very dull out so they aren't the best.
Had to get DS1 a mattress topper as he's been complaining about the springs, and I don't know if he will still be in that bed once we move so don't want to spend on a new mattress. At £26 it was the cheapest they had, but I sold DS2's jumperoo that he'd outgrown for £20, so total spend for today was actually only £6.
Using up cabbage from the veg box with some sausages, mash and onion gravy tonight. Cannot wait! Also think both boys will be early to bed today so a double win! Hope everyone has a peaceful evening
