  • I just rang them as I have my claim for the 10th and 16th of April still outstanding. They said Santander have validated my claims but the vouchers won’t be sent until the end of next week

I do think they are having some technical problems. My vouchers were all there but the admin lady had to refer me to a junior developer to actually locate them all and send them out to me.

They could have pulled the offer when they saw the number of requested codes go over the number they had planned for. The fact that they didn't suggests that they either haven't yet reached that number, or that such a number doesn't even exist, or that they liked the uptake so much that they upped the number, or that the admin is so unspeakably bad that they haven't noticed they exceeded the number. In any case, I would think that this offer costs a tiny fraction of Santander's profits. I would also think, though, that any future offer from Santander will have significantly more onerous terms.
Yes I have a feeling that they issued 5 codes to each person expecting most people to use at most 1 code. Issuing 5 codes all at once means you don't know if the person is going to use 0, 1 or all 5.

It would have been far more sensible to issue the codes one at a time, then they'd have been able to monitor as you suggest.

I agree it is a drop in the ocean vs. their profits, but someone will no doubt be performing a cost-benefit analysis of the scheme and I'd be surprised if it performs as well as forecast.

Maybe they are also factoring in a % of vouchers that'll be issued, but never claimed.

Don't the retail industry usually report that ££££'s worth of vouchers are languishing, unused.

Also I bet they didn't pay face value for them either...not on a commercial deal of that size.

No, I'm waiting on voucher claims from 18th, 23rd and 24th April but judging by Luxchr's post from the end of last week (pasted below) they are still dealing with older claims than mine this week so I'm not worrying, just waiting.

Quick update: I've rung them again as I still haven't had them and am now over the 30 days for one claim. She could not have apologised more. She said they are still awaiting vouchers from Amazon and they are going out early next week, they have a backlog and a huge batch coming. The lady seemed very genuine and I could hear the conversation with her manager. She must have apologised about 5 times.

I'm assuming that as it's gone quiet here, no one else has been adversely affected by doing multiple switches/claims??

I think it is now reasonable to suppose that nobody has been adversely affected by doing multiple switches/claims, but one person has been affected by stoozing several interest free overdrafts from the same bank.

A bit annoyed as I applied for 2 donor accounts from Halifax and Lloyds respectively (which I know are part of the same banking group). Applications were successful and even received my Halifax card but then received a text saying that the application for a current account was unsuccessful. Called up to enquire but they couldn’t really tell me much besides to wait for the letter with the explanation. Also happened to the rest of my family members so might be that they saw a few applications from the same household at around the same time and thought that was odd during their manual checks. Who knows? Not sure if this happened to anyone else. I already bank with Halifax so didn’t think I’d be rejected and that’s 2 other applications I could have made. Not sure if it’s worth going into branch?

By the way, is the 18th of June the last day for switching or the day when all switches should be completed by?
