Have a look at the satellite image on google maps. You can clearly see the social housing on the otherside of the path way. While you are doing that have a look at the prison on the other side of the railway line.

Strange its not labeled as HMP ***! I thought 'Prison', but then changed my mind as it had no label.
  • Hi all thanks for your comments.

The vendor wants £115k and we’re just figuring out if it’s worth that much. The original asking was 125k so still seems like a saving for us? We believe we can add value in the form or a new kitchen and bathroom (can get these cheaper through work). We would also explore a lean to on the side of the property.

It really is the cheapest for the area which is is quite popular.

HMP Glen Parva, which also housed a YOI, closed in 2017. It is to be demolished and rebuilt, hence the lack of label.

Who wouldn't want a brand shiny new cat C prison on their doorstep?
  • I looked at one of these one bed houses to rent once. They are only appropriate to a certain type of resident; someone who:

-has no hobbies/plays no sports (nowhere to store any kind of equipment)
-is not into cooking (limited storage space, work surfaces and dining surfaces)
    -doesn't have many friends round
-doesn't work from home (unless you're ok with laptop on sofa all day)

You have to be very sure you're this type of person, and that there enough out there to sell it on to.
    They are an EYESORES!!!!
