You need to be aware that by asking the DWP to look at the decision again, they can review the award you have just received.
Your award can be increased, remain unchanged, or decreased.
It is a risk you should be aware of, and a decision to pursue a MR when an award has been given, needs careful thought.

I'd start by looking at the PIP assessment guide Part 2 (google it), which lays out the scoring criteria in detail.

If you do decide to appeal, this is a good guide to the process:
    https://www.advicenow.org.uk/guides/how-win-pip-appeal

Be aware that the appeal process can be long ,and can be stressful.

The PIP award you currently have enables your carer to potentially claim Carers Allowance.
If you live alone you may be entitled to the Severe Disability Premium (c.£64 pw) addition:
    https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guides/Severe-Disability-Premium/What-is-a-Severe-Disability-Premium

Get some advice, and give it careful thought. Don't jump to a MR just because parts of the assessment were inaccurate. Make sure you can put a compelling case forward at tribunal that an increased award should have been given.

You can't claim severe disability premium if someone claims carers allowance for looking after you.

SDP is paid, if you live alone or classed as living alone. You need to be claiming Income related ESA, JSA, Income Support or Pension credit to be able to claim this. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/severe-disability-premium

Please read the link I supplied in my post. That should explain it.

As poppy says, you can only claim the SDP if nobody is claiming Carers Allowance for taking care of you.

  • Hi im new here so dont know where i need to post. Im still on dla, havent switched over to pip yet. After listening to all the nightmare stories im quite anxious and scared of the whole process.i have several health conditions but yet im still worried about it. I need to inform dwp about a change in bank details. I was wandering if this could trigger a pip application.

    No. It won't

You are on the right forum but it's best to start a new thread as opposed to joining an existing one. It will get lost and be confusing for those involved.

Completely different forum users. Post #16 is a new user who joined today. Which is why it's always better to start a new thread because confusion often happens.

Standard daily living is a lot more than standard mobility, doing an MR could risk you losing the Daily living and gaining Mobility just a thought or in monetary terms swapping £57 a week for £22 instead unless you strongly believe you will get both is it worth sacrificing almost triple what you currently get ?? not including the severe disability premiums you may be entitled to on any other benefits you may claim if you also meet the criteria.

    PIP £57 a week
    SDP (if eligible ) £64 a week
Total £121 plus change a week assuming no other top ups are on your other benefits and you live alone without anyone claiming carers allowance etc.

(Or £22 a week dla give or take and not knowing any other premiums you may be getting on that)

Always do the research on what you are entitled to and make sure it is worth the gamble if you want to appeal. I am not saying you are getting £121 a week vs your £22 you currently get because I do not know.
