It will make me think twice about Flybe in future though.
Finding a company that enforces its rules might make it more likely I flew with them. We've all seen people flaunting these rules (not saying your a worst case or anything) and and it's an annoyance to those playing by the book.

    my two observations

    1. I use a CabinZero backpack, which only weighs 800gms and is soft so unless over full can fit in any cage - its slightly too big for FlyBe sizes but does fit in their cage (due to being soft).

    2. Don't test your bag in the cage near any staff - as the only time I've seen people pulled up they'd tried the cage away from the desk but where watched.

I've been lucky only ever had my bag checked once at Liverpool flying to Limoges with RyanAir, fly 8-10 times per year and never checked on any other airline or airport.

We often fly for two weeks with hand-luggage only.

  • Anyone had any luck challenging Flybe if their bag was the correct size?
I have a bag which is exactly the permitted size for Flybe (including wheels and handle as they stipulate).
Checked and photographed it when packed, pre and post travel to Edinburgh recently.
Fine on the way up there but on the way back (after a cancelled and then delayed evening flight) I was charged £35 along with c15 others.
My bag wouldn’t fit in the metal frame at all!
I wasn’t going to get snarky with the staff - just doing a job. However I feel like doing something as I checked and abided by the rules but was still stung!

Flybe cage is stated to take bags up to maximum of 55 x 35 x 20 cm
what are the max dimensions of your bag - with a tape measure rather than the label
