Op may have a case. The manufacture should put a warning on the Duvet saying how heavy it is when wet and that domestic washing machines cant take the load.

Common sense really, can no one but me and the OP see that?

    I see sarcasm.

Judging by some of the other posts by bris, I wouldn't be too confident that he's not being serious.
  • If sarcastic, then disregard.

If not sarcastic, I hope there's a warning against it being too toasty warm in winter, not to set it on fire as itll burn, not to use it as a welding shield as its not suitable eye protection...

Hi tess, expect a visit from comms telling you all the things wrong or irrelevant in your post...(there are a few)

I don’t think you are owed anything, and it’s quite probable that the machine was on its way out anyway.

I’d drop the claim and move on if I were you.

Aww shucks, thanks Deano, now that you mention it:

    Hi there
I am looking for some advice on how to claim against a company not registered on resolver.

The circumstances are; I received a bedspread as a gift at Christmas. I followed the washing instructions carefully but when the bedspread got wet in the machine it was so heavy that it broke my washing machine and I had to find £250 to buy a replacement. - even if you can prove some culpability, you are not entitled to new for old. The best case is the value of a 2nd hand X year old machine. Likely to be £40-60

This has been very difficult as I’ve been unfairly dismissed from my job and that is a lot of money for me. - I doubt that, but just in case it was unfair dismissal - employment tribunals are free now; so go nuts and sue I contacted the company and all they have offered me is a 20% refund of the price paid for the item..which amounts to £3!!!! Not much help! And frankly..an insult.... - generous in my view. They owe you nothing I said I was not satisfied with this response and said I would escalate the complaint further but when I tried via resolver the company is not listed.
Could someone tell me to which body/organisation/law I need to apply to take this further.

    Thanks

    Tess

The small claims court. You'll lose, but that's where such disputes are settled

Isn't this the same as duvets being sold as washable? My king size down duvet states clearly that it is washable at a low temperature , the fact that it doesn't actually fit in my normal sized domestic washing machine even dry is immaterial. The label is correct, the duvet is technically washable- but not actually possible unless I go to my local launderette that has the giant machine.

Household machines can take duvets - but you're likely looking at 9kg load capacity minimum. Unless maybe its a feather duvet. But surely only a sadist would have a feathered duvet.

Bad enough when I sit down on the sofa with my feather filled cushions and get stabbed in the !!!!.

Just gotten back on here and read the rest of the replies. The manufacturer refunded me for the bedspread and I actually did get £75 toward a new machine so they were t having that much of a laugh at me as some on here have had.

I’m quite upset at some of the snarky comments..really no need for it..I came on here for some advice not to have the the Mick taken out of me...

Replying to comm69 ...how dare you make comments like you doubt I have been unfairly dismissed I’m well aware that ET is now free as I have just been successful in my ET on disability discrimination up to and including act of dismissal for which I’m being awarded a very significant five figured amount of money ...what an incredibly offensive thing to say!!
