The regulator has some very sharp teeth on the rare occasions it chooses to use them.
What we do have in this country is a system that prefers to take a hands-off approach to big-business encouraging them to do the right thing, only using enforcement as a last resort, (usually, IMHO, belatedly).0 -

Unfortunately, the Three SIM only T&Cs now include annual increases in May each year. Whether they increase prices in May remains to be seen...0 -

It's always been worth haggling, though - with Three or any other company.
Having negotiated down our SIM only monthly charges to £5pm each for unlimited calls and texts plus 4GB pm data on the Advanced Tariff I'd urge anyone else to do the same.0 -

Good luck haggling mid contract term, which is what the thread is about...
I watch for the deals that Three offer from time to time, in the past the prices of the "discounted" SIM only contracts didn't increase. Going back a few years their famous "One Plan" was £25/month, then £20, eventually it was £15.
I'm currently on their unlimited everything for £20/month, which includes unlimited tethering... As I obtain up to around 60 Mb/s it's better than most fibre broadband for an all round good deal.0 -
Much simpler to buy from JL on an interest free credit card and get the 2 years warranty that way?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

To be honest both my sim taken out this January politely told them over three chat complaint saying I cannot afford this increase they said fine we will note your account and make a Goodwill gesture he even told me to keep this a secret from your friends.lol0 -

FWIW, Three SIM only contracts have not previously increased annually. Now these contracts include a reference to an RPI increase in May each year...
Sim only contracts taken out with 3 prior to 13 December 2018 do not include the RPI increase clause. They even make that clear in their Ts and Cs. http://www.three.co.uk/terms-conditions/paym-and-payg
Although, I'm on a sim contract taken out before 13 December 2018 and have received a text saying 'your monthly charge' will increase by 2.5%. So if they implement this increase on my contract I'll dispute it.0 -
