  • There have been PC performance problems with Adobe Reader 8. This is due to the Auto Update checker.

    The way I have resolved the issue is as follows:-

    o Install V8.0
    o Disable Auto Update
    o Install V 8.1.1
    o Check that Auto Update is still disabled.

    If you install V8.1 or V8.1.1 on a pc without V8.0 installed it is a nightmare as is installing V8.1 on top of V8.0. I have found that when you install V8.1.1 over V8.0, it seems to keeps your previous preferences (i.e. No Auto Update) and all is well.

    adobe have some serious problems re their installation of programs. its well know issue now.
    check out google for the problems and solutions.
    adobes updater is a !!!!!! nightmare. ridiculous for a major SW company.
    and adobes customer service dept is as good as ebays/paypals!

    i swear, the next time im in San Jose, im gonna throw a brick through adobes windows!
